  • Brake Pedal Squeaking

I might be being picky but...

The brake pedal on my 150 series Prado GXL Petrol Auto has been making a squeaking noise since new so I asked Toyota Service to look at it the other day during the cars first service they said the sound is "normal" and is caused by the Hydraulic Brake Booster in the pedal...

My issue is that the squeak is quite noticeable especially if the radio is turned down and it occurs every time the brake pedal is pressed as long as the engine is running and it doesn't make a difference if the car is moving or stationary.

The service centre did show me another Prado that they had in the yard and it also made the same sound though I am convinced that the squeak is a bit louder on my car.

Before I take this up further with Toyota I am interested to know if anyone else has noticed a squeaking noise from their brake pedal and if so have you asked Toyota about it and better yet did you get it fixed?

Given that it has bugged me for the past 1500km's i am not looking forward to another couple of hundred thousand km's of squeaking!!!

rub a bit of rubber grease on the push rod what goes through the rubber protection cup see if that helps Chris !

      Re: Brake Pedal Squeaking

Yeah mine does it too - not a loud squeak as such but it's noticeable. An hydraulic sound more than a squeak as such. Been doing it since new (7500kms so far and no change).

Mind does the same. The sound is not a squeak more like a hydraulic noise as DadeGroot says. Mine has 450ks on it

          Re: Brake Pedal Squeaking

I picked my 150 up 2 days ago and the sound was bugging me all the way home from Maitland yesterday. Even when the radio was on, found myself putting the brakes on just to see if it would keep doing it. Oh well, just another quirk I guess, it would be nice if they could get rid of the sound though.

Add another to the list, my D4D did not do it when new, it started at around 7k. Toyota also told me that it was 'normal' but if so why did it not do it before? It does have that hydraulic sound to it more than a sqeak, damned annoying. I note that if you pump the breaks a bit it stops but comes back soon after.

            Anybody had this fixed?

Yep I've got it as well .... and it drive me nuts! Once I get the sound in my head I am waiting for it to happen, grrr! I will be asking the question at the 1000km service but from what I read here I'm not expecting a quick fix. Would love to know if anyone has solved this problem.

Sorry to say Doug but your going to have to get use to it as Toyota will fob you off on this one guaranteed.

                      Brake pedal squeaking

I picked up my 2014 150 series in May this year and it seems Toyota still haven't done anything to fix the squeak. it is going in for 20,000 service this week and i'll ask them to look at the squeak but I don't hold out any hope

Just picked up a 150 series Kakadu (2015) and noticed this exact noise! As described above, slightly squishy/hydraulic sounding. With the radio on or windows down its not going to cause me too many dramas.

My 2010 GXL auto still makes a slight hydraulic noise, nothing to worry about, the noise easily removed by adjusting the radio/CD volume if you are concerned.
