I drove my firend's 2011 petrol kakadu and heard this squeaking sound.......but i have a 2010 petrol kakadu and as far as i remember, i don't hear this, i might try driving my prado again tonight when all is quiet and confirm whether there is this squeaking sound or not..

Possible the rubber exhaust hanger mounts. Spray wd40 into them and they'll quieten down. Petroleum will degrade rubber with time however.2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel FilterComment

Its the sound of the vacuum boosted air (generated by an electric pump so they work with the engine off), thats all. Not a sneak its a swoosh sound. Normal. I have the same sound in my kakadu 2014. I was worried initially and wondering what that sound was, but the dealer said that is some pump to assist in breaking since this is such a heavy vehicle. I don't know how true this information is.
I do also hear the *SWOOSH* sound when the radar cruise breaks the car. One of my friend who got a 2009 v6 kakadu doesn't have this. Not sure what the difference is though.Comment

Picked up my VX auto 2.8 last week and can confirm it does make this noise as well. My previous car a 2014 Qashqai made this noise as well but not nearly as pronounced as the Prado. Its quite annoying since the Prado is 3 times the price.
We tested a GXL 3 weeks ago and it was the first thing we asked the salesman, what is that noise. He couldn't hear it.
Because the cabin is so quiet you can really notice it when the windows are up and radio is off.
Ill ask about it at the 1000k inspection.Comment

My 5,000K old 2.8L GX auto does it too, since day 1. One of the only things about the entire car that annoys me.
Even my special lady friend, who doesn't usually notice these sorts of things asked me very early on 'is that noise normal?'
