no technical issues with mine now! changed my camera over to correct video format and the picture now is as good as what you see watching a dvd. really happy now.

even thinking of adding a camera on the front and one on the back of my caravan. so that means a 3 way switch will be needed in addition to the switch needed to see out the back while driving forward (ie, not in reverse).

can see top of towball with my camera mounted in the centre of my bumper rather than up near number plate and picture is oh so clear

Very keen to do this mod on my GXL and am confident in the wiring.

BUT, how easy is it to then rout the new wiring loom and switch to a blank switch near the steering wheel? DO the blank switches just push out/in? DO you have to remove any other panels other than what's illustrated above to rout the new wiring and switch?

          Cheers, Sam.

Sam, it is fairly easy. Once I had the clock/climate control panel out and unplugged and did the same with the screen panel I was able to fit most of my had around to push the panel that houses the 4 buttons. I pushed the whole panel out so I could remove the blank. It needs to be pushed out using the retaining clips on the top and bottom of it.

I found the easiest way to feed the wiring was from the switch panel into the cavity for the screen so I had more room for my (largeish) hands to fish it out.

Might I also recommend the 2 way switch as used (and sold) be Derek as it is a very nice fit straight into the dash.

            Hope this helps.

I have just completed a similar fit on my Prado 150 GX in conjunction with replacing the radio with a DIG Options GPS DVD AV unit. Access is similar but the bolts securing the radio are only removed after the AC unit and top duct housing are removed.

                          No worries Ages,

here is my unprofessional scribble, though this was for my 120 with the digoptions unit - you'll need to confirm that it'll work for you.
The switch is a jaycar job with power applied to the middle terminal and flicking the switch up or down simply selects which output terminal is live.

On my unit brown is the reverse signal wire that switches the head unit over to camera input and the blue wire is the pre-amp or somthing that i grabbed to power the switch (was easier that locating another ACC only supply at the time). Dont forget the diode on the reverse light and I have used diodes on the switches to ensure the circuits are one way only.

Still having technical issues and havent spent any more time getting mine going - think I may have the wrong camera (pal or ntsc) as I get the rolling picture...

I may have missed this but where can I buy a switch like in the photos that will fit neatly into the spot on the dashboard?
