          Pothole,

which mount is that for your iPhone to the right of the stereo?

it looks like a smoothtalker cradle that charges and possibly has USB connected as well, but i couldn't see a USB model

how did you mount the actual cradle to the dashboard?

          please fill us in.

pothole, is the sound adequate coming from the UHF speaker and did you have to cut the trim to fit it in the pocket?

              Hi Guys,

Thought I may as well use this thread for my question - going to mount a Simoco SRM 9022 in the Prado and looking for suggestions on a good mounting spot.

The head unit measures 170mm L x 165mm W x 50mm H without the antenna (BNC) and MIC (RJ45) connected, so not as small as most of the latest units.

Thought I would look for recommendations before I start pulling apart the car for voids. I dont think it will fit in the standard passenger side kick panel or next to drivers knee locations, but I could be wrong?

                Hi Kevin,

Just wondering how you got on with a location for your UHF installation.

I'm looking at a unit that is about the same size and would like to get it under the front dash, but because of size under the passenger seat is about the only option to keep it out of sight.

I'm thinking about the Icom IC-450.

                    The remote unit is 180mm x 125mm x 29mm

                        Hi BettySnow,

My apologies for the late reply, been out of reception

I put mine inside the centre armrest glovebox, velcro'd to the passengers side. Still plenty of room to store my handheld UHF, tyre deflators etc.

I drilled a hole on the front of the bin to get the power, aerial, speaker, handset wiring in and out of the centre console underneath the cupholders (manual GX).

External speaker is mounted underneath the drivers seat - best off using a right angle drill for all of this FYI.

MIC clip is silicon'ed just above the passengers seatbelt warning light.

                        Cheers,
                        Kevin

                          Hi All,
I installed my uniden 8070s into my 150 2.8 prado on the weekend. I wanted it out of the way so I decided to mount the remote head on the right hand side of the rear view mirror utilizing 3M VHB tape on the mount (summer will be the test to see if it holds). I ran the cable along the top of the windscreen under the head lining and down the RHS A pillar. I was careful not to go near the curtain airbag I ran and cable tied it to the existing cables. There is a nice gap that runs down from the A pillar to underneath the dash. I mounted the main unit on the LHS of the steering column utilizing a bracket not being used. With the uniden you have the option of running the mic from either the main unit or remote head so I went from the main unit and popped the cable from underneath the dash. I'll probably make up a small extension as the cable is a little tight. I mounted mic on the RHS of the flip up storage door but facing the drivers door again I used VHB tape for this. I ended up running a cable directly from the battery and into a relay that is switch from the rear 12V outlet as it was the easiest to gain access to plus I know what it's for. I popped the antenna and power cables through the main rubber grommet above the accelerator peddle. I am really happy with the fit off and didn't drill one hole and it's very neat and tidy.

I installed mine in the small storage compartment in the centre of the dash under the AC controls, its the small GME you get from ARB that uses a suction cup, it mount to the top using the mount it came with without the suction cup, takes up little room and is iut of sight.

Mate do you have a photo of your install?

how do you go seeing the controls and screen in the compartment, I guess you've spaced it forward?
