    Re: UHF Radio

    hi there,

I have just fittend the Icom ic 440 to my 150, this unit was mounted under the passager seat and the head (mic, speaker and control) unit is mounted just under the passages seat signal.

Picked up power from the 12 volt socket in the rear console, now just need to wait for the ARB deluxe bar to mount the aerial

    bracket I bought from http://www.holdmyphone.com.au/

    regards

      Re: UHF Radio

i ended up going with the GME TX3440. mounted the unit under the dash on the driver's side. ran the extension cable and the mic out and a bit of double sided tape the to right hand side of the 4wd shift dial and DAC buttons.

sit there fairly neatly along side my brake controller.

                Re: UHF Radio

None on this particular install. all two days of it. i have used the same tape in a previous car without dramas.

You need to ensure you buy "outdoor, heat resistant" tape. i purchased mine from bunnings. it is black tape (the sitcky part) with a green peel off backing.
if i find the brand name i'll post it up.

I had heard that there is some issues regarding change over from Analogue TV broadcasting to Digital Terrestrial Television often referred to as DSO (Digital Switch Over). that is why this problem occurs. Not all UHF radio microphone users will be affected by these changes, though many will.

                      Hi Folks

If you want it to stick get some 3M VHB (Very High Bond) this is what we used to stick aluminium panels to stell on trailers, it is alo used to stick panels to buses. You need to be sure to clean the dash with metho before putting the tape on otherwise what ever you use will fall off.

                      Regards, Richo.

Hi, Has anyone been in touch with the" Department of Interior " regarding a over head or a dash console for the 150 .I like as much leg room as I can get and also all within easy hand reach for adjustments ? I have seen their consoles for other models like the 120 's ??????? Cheers Foxy :?:

Where to install CB radio ??

I have a Icom Pro 400 from my last car I want to install. (wiring is easy, don't need help with that) Where to put it is the big question, I want to mount it on the left hand side of the console near the auto gear stick. This will make it sit in a vertical position, exactly like in my old Hilux. I know I can get a GME 3340 and tuck it up under the dash but I don't need one when I already have a good radio.
Has any-one out there mounted a CB near this position or anywhere else they may recommend?

                          Photos would be great.

I had no problems fitting my GME UHF. Just whacked it on the passenger side attached to the centre console.

You can't put it there when you have electric seats and kids !!!

Understand what you are saying about the electric seat but they don't travel any further forward that the manual seat. In addition once the seat is positioned, how often is it adjusted? As for the children touching it, if they can't be taught to leave it alone, Toyota has cleverly designed second and third row seats for this purpose. All rhetoric aside, it works for me and I'm just putting it out there to give other Prado owners another perspective on mounting.
