  • That is good economy for that speed. At 100-110 you would use a lot less fuel but go mad getting there.

    • I have had my 2012 GX 6speed manual less than a month, filled it up just after I got it. Topped it up this morning because the same servo was much cheaper than everyone else and got the same pump, 38.35 litres for 461km =8.31lt/100km trip computer says 8.1 so pretty close. It has a TJM steel bull bar but otherwise it looks pretty stock
      very happy with that

      • 664km travelled for 62.87 litres with a lot more highway driving this month. Trip computer shows 8.2, same Caltex servo same pump filled to same level( to the brim)
        Actual figure is 9.46L/100km
        what’s going on

        • Well I am perplexed at my current performance. 2014 VX 3.0l Diesel. For the first 4 years I averaged 10l/100kms which I was extremely happy with. I was sometimes getting around 9.0 to 9.7 around town. obviously towing would go up to 11.0 and sometimes 13 depending on weights and distance. In the last 7 months I am constantly sitting at 11.5;/100kms around the same roads and even on long stretches of open road. At 100km/h I tend to be around 10.5 whilst at 110km/h I go up to 11.5. It seems all over the place at the moment. I have travelled 91 000ks and owned the vehicle from new

I have constantly had a service done by the manufacturer and have queried this increase at the last two services with no obvious report on any malfunction. They have asked me to try a different brand of diesel as it did coincide with our company changing suppliers but as there was a gradual increase I only noticed in the last 7 months. I am on a second fill of a different brand of diesel but still no improvement. They said it may take 3 full tanks to rule out if it is a different fuel causing the increase

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

          Thanks

          • I have a 2011 gx with Steel bullbar, dual steel tyres rear carrier, snorkel, roof rack and 3” superior lift and I’m sitting at about 11 per hundred. So for my tank I get about 1100 max

            • I think driving on freeway lifts my economy figures up to 9.5lt/100km. But if I go my normal way to work which takes slightly longer economy slips back under 9lt/100. This tank I got 1528km took 133 litres to fill to the brim. Beginning of the year I changed tyres from the light weight puncture prone Dunlop’s to the sturdier and heavier Nexen Roadian AT Pro. That’s had a negative impact on economy of about half a litre. But it beats changing a tyre every time you leave the bitumen

              • I had heard the as the engine gets 'loose/free' with age the mileage should get better. However on mine it is dropping and the dash does not go above 1350 from full tank! This used to be up to 1495 at its best when newish! Wonder why. Has been serviced at Toyota all this time!

Not sure how Mikey338 is able to get 1528kms!!!!!!! and still only take 133 litres!!!!! This would equate to @11.5 km/L!!!!! Never saw this mileage on my D4D!

                • So economy had been pretty steady at around 8.7lt per 100km, until I decided to do a big EGR clean. Spent all afternoon cleaning the carbon out, it was pretty caked up all the way to number 4 port.
Then economy went up to 9.9lt per 100 km and tonight I filled up it came out to 9.6 Lt per 100 hopefully it’s relearning and will get back to where it was. My way of thinking is more air=more fuel =more power, it definitely has more power. Maybe I have to change my driving style a bit also.

                  • Well it seems to have come back to where it was before the EGR clean. 70.94 litres to the brim for 807 km that’s 8.8lt per 100 so pretty happy with that, have not changed the routes I drive or my style I think the computer must’ve worked it out. Took about three thousand kms though to sort itself out
