  • The Newcastle to Brisbane tank ended up averaging 10.34 L/100km after some running around up there. Did 800 or so kms today towing the new CT and the car says I am averaging 12.2 which is realistically about 13 L/100km.

          • Not sure how you get these figures mine runs 10 litres per 100 highway and up to 16 with a 2.200 kg poptop caravan. The computer in the car is a waste of space. If you are running 8.6 thats over 1600 kms per tank i would wonder about that.

1121km to West Wylong and put in just under 100L. Works out at 8.9. It works.

                  • I'm up to 10,000km - ready for teh first service, and the average of short 1km trips fromhome to work (yeah the heater doesn't even come on) and some highway is 8.9L/100km

Feels like I filled up the tank 2 months ago, it just keeps going, and going, and going...

Best I did was two return trips to Bundaberg from Bris on one tank, some 1700kms before the DTE went to 0. I think I average 7.5L/100km on those two trips, just one driver, clean car, no luggage, prob best I'll ever achieve.

                    • well, i've clicked over 17ks now on the prads - now doing the daily grind, bondi to cbd (albeit generally outside of peak hour) and out to the 'rents in the central tablelands every 4 weeks or so. it's still showing 9.5l/100 and will drop back down to 9.4 after a trip out to the country. that's with a steel bar, dual batteries & snorkel.

                      lovin' the prado!

                      • Not sure how you all seem to do so well. Mine averages about 12 around town and no better on the open road. In fact coming back from Adelaide sitting on 120 I was getting around 15. Never better than 11. Figures around 9 are just a dream.

At 120Kmh you are going to drink lots. The vehicle has a large drag coefficient which is really pronounced above 110. Do you ever try to keep the eco light on? Coast down hills and to red lights? My experience has been lots of people try to drive them like small cars with the foot flat. The Prado will have no issues keeping up with regular traffic but you will always pay for it with fuel. Stands to reason being about 2 and a half tons of metal.

                            • With the wife's 2014GXL around town, she can average 8.1 comfortably in and around Rockingham.
that does include some trips down to Mandurah, only mod is 3inch exhaust.

                              • Our Prado has just clicked over 100,000kms. It's averaged 12.3ltrs/100kms over that time which also includes 4 yearly touring trips throughout Australia + towing the caravan.....

If I remove the Touring figures(some 31,000kms in total), etc from the overall figures, then the economy is 11.8ltrs/100kms for normal around town driving..... Not bad I reckon for a non-std 4wd.
