Hi everyone,
Planning on taking off around oz for an indefinite period of time soon and getting the baby ready. I've got a 98 model with 93K on the clock. I'm pretty sure it would never have been changed as i've had the car since 60k. I'm trying to work out if the 3.4L 5VZ-FE engine is an interference engine where the pistons contact the valves in the event of timing belt failure..
I've decided that if it is an interference engine i'd better change it as I can't afford a new engine
If not I can deal with being stranded and having to be towed or changing it on the side of the road...
Anyone had one break or know FOR ABSOLUTE CERTAIN if it is/isn't a catastrophic failure?
This website seems to be used by people as a reference and is telling me that it is not an interference engine (no damage if it fails) I have to enter 4runner or tacoma as model to select our motor but.
