I am impressed you went all the way through, its getting pretty long nowadays Glad you liked it and don't worry you wont need to wait long for the next custom made project to come along, working on one at the moment.

      Cheers Andrew

      • I really like your roof console mate, and am keen to make one myself. Would you happen to have the specs for length and width please?

The roof console is 240mm wide including the fabric and foam underlay, so around 230mm wide for the timber frame. Just a touch over 900mm long but that was governed by the position of the interior light and needing to remove that and cover the hole that it left. it 160mm deep in the deepest spot.

Wooden frame is all made out of 9mm plywood.

When I first installed it things felt a little claustrophobic, but I quickly got used to that, I wouldn't want it any bigger though or it would start to be an issue.

          Cheers Andrew

          • Thanks for that Andrew. Interestingly the distance from the sunglass holder at the front to the interior light in the 150 is approximately 1500mm.

            • Hey Andrew, I have done a barter with the welders at work and they are going to knock me up a set of sliders and when it gets quieter and they make theirs as we'll. I am going to buy the aluminium checker plate as they don't have any laying . I was just wondering what thickness you would suggest

                  • AJ makes a fine quality product.

Be prepared to be disappointed that what you make will never be quite as good.

                      • Doing some work recently and I took the front OE bash plate off, making a new one has been on my "to do" list for a long time but there always seems to be something more important to do. Anyway the OE one was so banged up this time that I couldn't refit it, so finally bit the bullet and made a new one.

I haven't had a chance to get it powder coated yet, that will have to wait until after the next trip.

                        Cheers Andrew

Gotta ask though, how do you find room to store the 'random' wildlife that appears in a number of your photos? I guess the sleepy lizards dont take up much room and they're always on-hand for a photo op!!
