Please dig it out of the trash and drop it off to an e-waste recycle ststion. Stuff like that should not hit landfil.

The picture in the bin was really just for effect, I have an assortment of drums full of various metals and electrical goods all destined for the scrap dealer, that's where it will end up.

I think I will have to dismantle it first as in my haste I forgot to check if the CD was empty and I reckon my Len Beadell CD is in there.

      Cheers Andrew

        • And make sure your e-waste station or wherever the trash will end up stays on your side of the river thanks...
Barmera dump is closed and I can almost see the Monash tip filling up from dads block.

Andrew, did the original unit play first off or did you have to muck around with the coding? I might go down the same path for all the use it gets.

            Cheers Jim.

            • No coding needed, it started up straight away. I just put a few CD's in, they went in fine, shuffled through them, checked it was playing which it was no problems. I had to reset my favourite radio station but that took about 5 seconds. Haven't checked the blue tooth for the phones yet as I have a different phone from when I removed the unit but expect that to work just as it did when I removed it.

The Dodgy options unit it now totally toast as I had left my CD in it, now its various parts are sitting in the appropriate scrap bins in my shed waiting for me to take it all to the recyclers and recoup around 25 cents for it which is probably the scrap value.

              Cheers Andrew

              • One of the indicator lights in my ARB bullbar has been broken for a very long time, I finally got round to grabbing a set of the new LED replacements from ARB.
$90 for the lights with my usual discount. When I went to fit them I found that not only the light was broken but when I pulled the surround out that was also cracked badly, from a stone strike I think. Anyway the plastic Light surrounds only come in pairs, so another $90 for a pair and I have a spare left hand side surround for next time.

A water proof connector plugs into the back of them, so a pretty nice fit up. Not sure about ARB providing scotch locks with them though, I soldered and heat shrunk the joins instead as I would not use a scotch lock unless I was desperate, very desperate.

They don't look much different once fitted so haven't taken a pic of that.

                Cheers Andrew

                  • Time for a new set of front struts. After around 95,000k and a lot of them hard outback kms, the OME front struts weren't leaking but they were definitely nearing the end of their useful lifespan. Cant complain about the service they have given me so opted for OME again. The last set I bought just before the introduction of the Nitro Sport range, this time round I have the Nitro's so hopefully they perform as well or better than the old struts.

Lower bushes were not as bad as some I have seen but certainly they were well past their prime as well.

                    Cheers Andrew

Hopefully doing a mini trip in around a months time that should cover a couple of thousand K through some varied outback tracks so can give a report after that.

                        • Thanks, I am finding when I hit the brakes hard the front end nose dives like it did with the OE suspension. Mind you I have 110,000 klms on mine.

                          • I think you'll find them firm but controlled Andrew.

I feel that the compression stroke is a tad firm when only on small bumps - but the rebound is lightening quick and feels great.

                            • I finally got round to wiring up my USB points in the centre console, along with completely re doing the wiring for all my accessories of the second battery in the rear. When I got the USB points wired I found they had a blue light when power is to them, no doubt the current draw would be miniscule but my Prado often sits for weeks without starting, add to that I found the Blue light to be just plain annoying so opted to fit a switch so they only are on when needed. I wanted the option of having them running with ignition off so this seemed like the easiest answer.

                              Cheers Andrew
