Does anyone have pvc attached to their roof rack or roof bars to carry poles and fishing rods and the like? Ive got pvc pipe etc to use but im just unsure how i will attach the pipe clamps to the roof rack. The bars, Rola, have an optional clam for $30 or $40 but i was wondering if there is a simple do it yourself option ? I think the Rola ones will have a bolt a piece of flat that will clamp up inside the bar channel, i dont think i could replicate that so well though??

I used a set on each side of my cross bars to mount my Awning and PVC pipe before I got my Tracklander. Unfortunantly I have already given them away. You can see it early on in my build thread.
They also do an eyelet pack you could buy one of them and make the L brackets your self.

Re: Roof rack pole carrier
I picked up some plate nuts (uni strut nuts) from an electrical wholesaler close to work, M8, M10 about $1.80 each
The nuts come with a spring attached which is easily removed, other than that they are the same as the Rhino plate nuts.
Then I got some M10 collared eye bolts @ $3.30, and 40mm x 40mm x 3mm zinc plated washers @ $0.30 from United fasteners.
The square washers look neater than the ones in the Rhino kit.
I will use the M8 plate nuts and washers to mount Brodies shovel and rod tube to the Rhino H/D bars

Re: Roof rack pole carrier
Slug sorry for the non reply mate.
I will be picking up the shovel holder brackets tomorrow from the powder-coaters.
I am midstream into a fridge slide build up, then to tackle the rod tubes.
Currently on Fleabay are Rhino Roof rack/ Bar 100 mm PVC pipe Holders up for grabs.
Not sure if the will fit your bars but Rhino RRP. is $49.00 for the three P/N BC3
Bidding's at $23.50 with 13 hours to go.

Re: Roof rack pole carrier
Just some advise about the pole tubes.... please make sure you have added protection/support in the front end of the tube. I had some 19mm deck hardwood lying around so I rounded a piece off and then glued it into the end-cap. i then glued AND screwed the end-cap to the pole. this will stop the poles flying out of the pole tube going over pumps & breaking - to a very large degree. Sorry if this is common sense, but it was done through experienceFJ Cruiser - you know you want one......
