  • help with abs and no brake lights

    gday would really appreciate some help with this problem. my ABS VSC TRC VSC OFF lights are all staying on to put the car into drive i have to press the shiftlock button after which it drives fine but the abs does not work. we have had this problem before but if we just hit the brake pedal hard a couple of time it would go away. also the brake lights are not working at all, all the other lights are i have checked the globes they all look fine but i am going to replace them now. i have also checked the fuses and found no problem.. really need help please thanks Brad

    Hi Bradbrick,
    It sounds serious, if you have done all the normal checks, fuses, abs harness connector secure and dry (RHS engine bay), wheel sensors wiring harness checked for damage then I would take the truck to a local Toyota dealership ASAP.
    07 Upgrade GXL D4D, Manual, Dune,Sov Bar, BFG's, SG11, Redark dual Batts, Extensive Aux wiring, Stebel, LED stop tails, IPF HID's (my mod), 240V Inv, ARB Comp, GME UHF,TPMS, Safari snorkel, GPS,Hilux washers, 40l Engel in 30% pas pos,homemade A/C cond protection plate, polyairs.

      have been doing some investigating and it sound like it might be a brake light switch, but i have no idea where ti find this in the car any ideas?????? thanks brad

        derrr found the switch have it out cant see anything obvious will tinker with it tonight and go to toyota tomorrow and replace it. hopefully this is the problem

          just pulled the switch apart and gave it a little squirt with rp7, pluged it in to test and all is working well the abs etc lights have gone and the brake lights are all working so obviously the contacts in the switch were abit dirty. very pleased to have solved the problem myself can only imagine what the dealer would have charged me. i hope this helps others, goodluck

                FYI. ABS VSC TRC and TRC OFF lights will stay lit if rear brake globes are blown as well
