Had my first look yesterday at the new Prado. What stood out straight away with the GXL was the much smaller cargo area compared to my 2007 GXL. There would be no room for a drawer system in this baby - hell I'm not even sure my Waeco lid would open with the floor so high (even if it did I'd need a step ladder to get a beer out!) I immediately started thinking about a GX. They didn't have one there but as I understand it (and from pictures on another thread in this forum) the rear set-up is pretty much the same as the 150 with a flat floor and double fold 2nd row seats. Trouble is with the GX you lose the side steps, roof rails and you get cheese-cutter rims and tyres. I could probably live without the extra electronics which I think are aimed mainly at the Soccer Mums anyway (with the sensors they should be able to park it OK when they take their brats to training). Then I started thinking. There is a 3rd row seat/airbags option for the GX which means it's probably a bolt on job. Why wouldn't it be possible to de-option the GXL and take the third row of seats out? You would lose the sliding second row option but would gain the double fold! Then the only thing missing is the extra 30L of fuel. Now I don't know if Mr Toyota reads this site but if you are mate - here's a suggestion. Create (with little effort) a sub model of the GXL without the third row of seats. Easy! And if it's not too hard, how about optioning in the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. Now that would be something. Enough to make you leap high in the air and shout out 'Oh, what a feeling!'
