      • Just finished it last week...pretty rough track in parts but well worth it. Saw some two wheel drives near Hermansberg and not sure if they made it through. Defo 4wd only and go prepared.

Happens all to often!! In the pic I put up in post 208, the driver wanted me to winch the troopie out. Wonder who he wanted to wade out to attach the winch rope. The cops rolled up shortly after and said in the last survey the was 160+ croc recorded between Cahills and a sandbar 3km up stream. Madness!!

Don't know if the story is true, but lesson to all of us to not attempt anything you're not comfortable with.

Agree, especially with a caravan. Anybody with commonsense who has seen the crossing during the wet or as the tide is running through would not even contemplate it. It runs hard!

                          • yep he was a moron just waiting for something to happen to him. It even has a depth indicator telling him it was almost 800mm high and with a van on the back might as well of had a plank of wood.

                              • Calc may be wrong since I don't have my reference books with me and Google isn't helping but the force from moving water on an object is mass flow X change in velocity. Or area X density X velocity X velocity. At a flow of 5km/h or walking speed and if the van is 5m long and has 300mm exposed to the current the force on the van pushing it sideways is almost half a tonne! On a wet surface. Crazy.

Ps amts check my calcs please????
