As stated Manta who are in Perth and supply high quality off the shelf exhaust systems for most vehicles are interested in producing a system to suit the 1KZ-TE 120 Series Prado as they are yet to add this to their inventory. They already do a system for the D4D.

I know quite a few forum members have fitted the Beaudesert or Taipan systems and others have supplied the turbo flange that they have purchased from Toyota to an exhaust shop and had a system fabricated.

Would there be any interest in another off the shelf product (3" mandrel bent in mild steel or stainless) retailing from around the $1000 mark. You would also have the option of HPC coating the dump pipe if wanted.

This is not just limited to Perth members as Manta sell Aussie Wide.

The kicker is.... they would like to use MUMSRIG to do the R&D and their R&D is done in Cunderdin which is 170klm's from Perth and we will be without our car for the best part of a week.

I need to make the decision today as my mate will drive MUMSRIG to Cunderdin tomorrow on his way back to Kalgoorlie. Any comments from anyone would be appreciated especially if you would be intersted in a system yourself.

It would have been nice to have dyno'd it before hand to give a comparrison but this has come up all of a sudden with no time to arrange dyno's etc.

Just thinking a bit more about this, would it be viable for them to add an Exhaust Gas Temperature point in the system??

I would definately be getting a EGT port installed if planning any futrue engine mods. Most EGTs use either 3mm or 6mm thermocouples (3mm gives a faster response) with either 1/4" BSP or NPT fittings. Make sure it is installed in a loction/orientation that gives maximum clearance between the fittings and the firewall / other components.
Also, on my TaipanXP system they have utlised the OEM hangers/backets making it a very neat installaton.

.... This is on my wish list. The price seems attractive. The option of an EGT probe in the system would be ideal.

Don't know if I could hand over my Prado for a week........ unless I knew who was going to be looking after it.... really well.

I will also be interested on how it changes your rigs power. Seat of the pants will have to do.

On the GTG there were a few times I had some extra grunt.. Not when I was sitting at a fuel bowser, but sitting behind a caravan.

Unfortunately not. However the price is reasonably attractive and considering it will be Stainless, I'm keen.

I can get a mild steel for similar price to what it's going to cost for this and not be without the car for a week, but in the long run stainless will be better and well worth it I think.

EGT port is a must then as an option.

sounds like a good idea, i would throw the ball back in there court, if you pay for a hire car for the time im with out the prado the i will hand over the $1000 for the exhaust, that way you r not going to be put out as much, you still have a car to get around. cheers samo

All is good on the car front. We had a rental whilst the Prado was getting a new rear bumper as my sister and mum are here, still got the rental till Sunday and also my mate from Kal is heading back tomorrow morning so he is driving MUMSRIG to Cunderdin and dropping it off, another mate (Darryl) is travelling in a 2nd vehicle to take Darryl's car trailer back to Kal as he also lives there and will pick Darryl up on the way through. Darryl is leaving his car with us so we will use the Super6 Calais until he returns. Once the Prado is back we will just need to garage Darryl's Calais until he returns for the Street Commodores Charity Cruise in September.

Andrew, I will keep your offer in mind though if you don't mind as my sister has been renting cars on her breaks of late (works in Newman) and may require another in the not to distant future as it saves us having to chauffer her around :wink:

Anyway, MUMSRIG will be leaving in the morning and Lindsay from MANTA assures me she will be in good hands. They will return the Prado next Friday all going well.

They will be manufacturing and installing a 3" Stainless Steel Mandrel Bend system with an 1/4" BSP EGT port and will be documenting this with photographs. I will continue this post with photo's and 'seat in your pants' reviews of the system upon my return from work late the week after next.

Well, it's now Thursday and MANTA should be close to finishing up with MUMSRIG hopefully. They were hoping to have it back by tomorrow.

I rang Lindsay this morning and he is going to give me an update some time today.

As far as I am aware this will become available through any exhaust or mechanical outlet that uses the MANTA range of products.

I will confirm pricing and availability once I speak with Lindsay.
