Thanks for the info, it's the sort of thing that is invaluable when comparing apples with apples.

I notice that along with the new front struts there is a new rear shock available too.

Ahh, that answers my question from the other thread on this topic. I'll find the latest 4x4 Australia.

          I also found http://www.arb.com.au/resources/pdf/new ... orbers.pdf

Just hold your horses on that... I think it was word for word from the ARB pdf you linked.

I'll check when I get home.

Looks like the 4x4 Australia story is based on the ARB pdf. No new information just re-worded and cut down to one page.

                  Re: OME component info.

New sport shocks come from same place the old ones did, made the way the old ones were, with new stickers, new paint job, a new dust cover, and some have had a tickle up on valving.

                  Mainly just a "rerelease".

The new wire Kings is using is similar wire to what Eibach use for cold rolled coils, but Kings are "hot" rolling them.

Generally, a 2mm wire dia saving can be had by using the better wire for coils.

                    Darren,

Thanks for the info. 'Up above' we only get the N140 & N141 shocks & struts, and 3 springs rates.

I need to visit an ARB store.

                      Re: OME component info.

Anyone up for a test drive?

I've had an email exchange with Matt Frost, Marketing Manager ARB. Guess what.... they have a D4D Prado fitted with Nitrocharger Sport at their head-office and I was asked to arrange a test drive . Unfortunately, I'm too far away . So if any Victorian PP'ers are available to give this a go and write up a report in our forum, I would be very grateful.

In case someone has the time, you can arrange the test drive through their salespeople at:

I hope someone has some available time to give this a go. Maybe you can ask to take it for a weekend .

Oh, some other details that may be of interest:
                      • look for an extensive writeup in an upcoming ARB newsletter (about 3 weeks away)[/*:m:gusmmven]
                      • there's a blurb in the current 4x4 Australia Magazine - though it's an extract from their PDF[/*:m:gusmmven]
                      • Overlander magazine has just had their Holden Colorado (fitted with Nitrocharger Sport) for 5 days, so an article will come soon.[/*:m:gusmmven]

                      Cheers,

                        Re: OME component info.

Assassinoffoad could not be more wrong about the new OME Nitrocharger sports shock and strut range. Whoever gave you your information obviously has no idea.

The OME engineers have been working on this project for three years. The shock design represents a major step forward in shock technology and will probably represents the biggest change in dual tube shock design in the last 20 years. There is currently no other shock available in Australia that can match this design or performance. Also to go with the new design there has been considerable testing and valving changes. The major benefit of the new design is the greatly increased range of valving options that are now available that are not currently physically available on ANY other dual tube or mono tube shock design.
Old Man Emu is the only company in Australia that designs mass produced shocks with valving to their design, all other shock distributors have to accept the shock design and valving that is made by that manufacturer - they will only change the colour labels and packaging. That is why OME is the only company that runs a team of engineers that work full time on shock valving - no one else needs to as they cannot get a shock made to their specifications. Yes OME shocks are made by Munro in SA but to OME's design and using OME specific components - Munro is owned by Tenneco which give them and OME access to a world wide range of shock technology. OME had to work with engineers in the USA on how to valve the new shocks as nobody at Munro in Australia had used this new design.
The new shock design has three valving points verse just two on a standard mono tube or dual tube shock - it has compression valving on top of the piston, rebound valving on the bottom of the piston and compression valving again in the base of the shock. This also meant a new improved piston design, new rod guide and improved top triple lip seal design.
Its a new shock that is designed, engineered, tested and build in Australia for the world market!

Oh and by the way - there is no new paint job it is still the same OME yellow!!

so i did. thanks for that. i don't think that the N139s would hold up to the conditions in the NT or upper half of Aus.
