How long did you get from the OEM battery?

  • Replaced the original battery in the petrol 120 after 6 years and 4 months. I was happy with that.

    • I got 5 1/2 years and 125,000 km out of my OEM battery in my 150. In my 120 I previously got 160,000km over a similar period.

      • Yea 5 years plus out of all 3 prados. Actually the 1kz 90 series just on 7. Certainly don't get that out of any of the replacement ones... Cheers

        • I replaced mine at 4.5 years, it was still going strong but I was starting to worry about it dying in the middle of no where. I think the voltage boost diode does a lot to preserve the battery.

          • You typically won't get the long life out of Australian made batteries as they use recycled lead. Some of the imported batteries such as Amaron use a more pure lead.

            Charging batteries every 3 months to condition them seems to help with life. I've got a Century N70ZZL4WD which is 2 years old and still going strong. If I get another 2 years I'll be more than happy.

            • I got about 3.5 years out of original and just over 5 years with a battery from the RAC got to be happy with that now have a supercharge brand happy so far.

              • Had a nightmare run with century battery's. The deep cycle leaked (damaged paint inside guard) and failed. Swapped to a Optima D27F and zero issues now. Today after my century starter battery was dying, ripped it out too find it also bloody leaking and again damaged paintwork on my inside guard. I swapped to a 810 cca Supercharge Gold plus starter. Fires heaps better now.

                • 7 years now and still only just hanging in. I won't change it until it dies as I have the luxury of a second battery to call on at the push of a button if and when the start battery dies. I am impressed as I have never had such longevity in a battery. I suspect that gs nippon denchi are not the same as GS Yuasa Century but if they are then would be happy to get one when the time comes.

                  • Yea I tried to buy a new one from Japan via local dealer can't get one. Not sure why the genuine can last that long but any thing else approx 3 to 4 years if your lucky

                    • Interesting. I think my Gosford dealer must have swapped my original for a Centuary on delivery. It only lasted three yrs. Started leaking acid at 12 months.
