Re: Which Spark Plugs for LPG?

    Hey Chesty

How did those colder plugs go? Any differance.

Im going to change my plugs in the near future when I check the tappet clearances.
Billy, It's hard to tell really. Certainly no downside - good throttle response, idle is smooth, power is good. Whether they make a difference to the stock ones or not is hard to say.

Re: Which Spark Plugs for LPG?

After a bit of mucking around Ive ordered 2 packs (only comes in 4 per pack) of Denso IKH22 spark plugs through Denso Australia.Couldnt source them anywhere else. They told me I should get them late January(must be coming via camel train)
I probably should of order 3 packs, anyhow I hope changing to a cooler plug its all worth it :!:

To revive this old but useful thread this is what I did today:

Car: 1996 Prado 90 (5VZ-FE engine) with non-injected LPG conversion

According to the manual the standard plug is BKR5EKB-11

I found out that from the last LPG service, they changed them to BKR6EKB-11. Which is colder set of plugs and it makes sense as LPG would run hotter.
They've also correctly reduced the gap to about 0.9mm - 1mm.
I used them for about 40,000k and sure enough one failed.

So I changed them to NKG Laser Platinum BKR6EP-11. I reduced the gap from 1.1 to 0.9 to compensate the LPG firing voltage.
This type has dual platinum tip and should last 100,000k. I'm not worried about 'performance improvements', just want less time mucking around with replacing plugs.
I bought them from Supercheap Auto for $23 each.

        So far so good. Smooth.

Interesting that the plugs have LEFT HAND threads????
