  • Redback/Beaudesert Exhaust

Has anyone installed a Redback Exhaust? I am considering upgrading the exhaust system, and while there seems to be quite a lot written about the Beaudesert Exhausts system, a local firm here in Cairns can supply a Redback system so I would like to know if anyone has any experience with the Redback system.

The Beaudesert Exhaust is 2.75" and the Redback Exhaust is 2.5". The Reback system is slightly cheaper.

    Cheers,
    Kevin

    Kevin,

If you haven't already you might want to check out TaipanXP Vortex exhuasts.

I've heard nothing but good reports on these. They are based in Burliegh Heads but have suppliers/fitters all over.

Around a $1000 for the Beaudesert delievered to Cairns, and about the same for the Redback system fitted in Cairns @ Tuffmuff. Tuffmuff could also make a 2.5" system for around $800 but not mandrel bent.

At the moment I am leaning toward getting the Beaudesert system.

Yes kevin did the install my self. The worst part is the turbo dump pipe, the inside nut agianst the engine block is hardest to get at on the 1KZ. Other than that it's all striaght forword. Well worth the effort I think. not sure on any change in fuel yet the system has only been on for three weeks, only been up the tableland a couple of times. Not noisy just a low note.
I'm 60 I'm over noisy exhausts. At about 80 there was a bit of a drone but after fitting a stainless exhaust tip pointing to the road I don't seem to notice it any more.

                    Northern Exhausts - Cairns

To the guys in Cairns, I have just been talking to Lyn at Northern Exhausts (JamesC's MIL) and they will supply and fit a Beaudesert 2.75" Mild Steel system for only $60 more than what I was quoted to get it delivered to Cairns, so I am booked in to get it done next month (not enough time before I head back to PNG )

                    Cheers,
                    Kevin

                          Re: Redback/Beaudesert Exhaust

I just got the beaudesert exhaust on mine last weekend ( Pr*ck of a job But well worth it), It was $1025.00 delivered to sydney. It was the best $1025 I've spent ( other than on Bundy rum). It is to soon to say whether it's better on fuel But I can vouch for the extra power. No turbo lag now off the mark and you also have to drive around with your window down and radio off. Love the sound of the turbo spooling up.

ok all but ordered new exhuast for mine now just have a question in regards to the dump pipe for the turbo.....after ringing around all the exhuast places in cairns(from PNG mind you), most are saying 3 inch dump pipe will let the turbo spool quicker and with new exhuast dramatically improve performance..

                            whats your thoughts??

                              Joey,

You will definately get better low end performance (turbo will spool up faster) with a larger dump pipe and if you changing the exhaust it the logical time to do it. The other thing you may want to consider if you haven't already is installing an Exhaust Gas Temp. (EGT) gauge.
