Geez! Yeah I'm not surprised to hear that at all about the stuck LC. Not that I've actually put a tape across a LC100, but It looks like there's considerable extra width over a Prado roof. My rental Garage has a curved entrance which I would pull out if it was mine. A reasonable 9 inches or so to spare as I drive in at the moment. That will drop back to say 6_1/2 after the lift.... or so. I really don't think an LC100 would go in there, certainly not with any type of lift on it. Even some parking bays now seem a lot narrower than they used to. Especially in trendy Cafe strips and the like. Errrr not that I really go to trendy joints much.... :? And you're right... some of the piping on the ceilings of those under-cover car parks can really hang down. I think with anything on the roof, even with a Prado you'd need to be very careful.

      "Prado's are crappy????"

Well that's certainly one viewpoint. I suppose it depends what angle you're coming from when you say that. A strange pronouncement to make on such a forum but then, it does drive good discussion. I really haven't driven any late model LC's at any great length so can't comment much. Surely fuel economy has to be one plus for the Prado. What consumption figures does the V8 Turbodiesel get in practice?

It just pee's me off about the grandes... this year my mate bought a 80 grand grande, took it offroad for his first time... thing click then clunk...rear hyrdrolic suspension came off... he went to toyota to recover warrenty, they told him to naff off because they think he totally abused the car... then thousands of $$$ to repair the bloody thing.
I've wondered about the wisdom of the adjustable hydrolic suspension - more to go wrong. Not much point installing it on an off-roader and then refusing a warranty claim. That sort of thing really grates on me. Can't imagine your mate was too pleased with the dealer  .
That's some good figures on your LC.

Heh yeah no worries Jim  I knew you were just making a point!

That's better fuel consumption than I was thinking you'd get, especially out of those V8 Turbo's.

I suppose that's the thing about adding too much tech onto offroaders, more to go wrong. You can tell that if we ever had a nuclear winter the only damn vehicles going anywhere would be those old FJ55's.

At the end of the day, either the Prado is designed for offroad use or it isn't. If something goes bang while offroad then you should be entitled to a warranty claim. Unless you tried charging up a mountain with it or something. I guess at the end of the day the Prado suits a certain type of offroader. More hardcore people would probably choose something else.
