Has anyone had experience fitting this tyre size in an aggressive mud pattern to their 90 series? Any problems? what offset of rim was used? Have a o.m.e 40mm lift already installed. Thoughts appreciated.

fitting 33" or 285/75/16 tyres to 90 series?

It will require the trimming of the front guard liner and grinding of the body seam behind it, which will also require removal of the front mudflaps.
On the rear 40mm lift may not be enough, you will find that tyres this big may wedge between the front and back of the wheelarch as they tuck up under articulation, unless there is sufficient lift.My Prado

Thanks for the insight fella`s. Obviously the bigger tyres look and perform better offroad than the next size down. Do you think it is worth the associated problems, and do you guys have alot of problems with tyre scrub especially offroad on your vehicles? Do you have any info on what rim offset would be best suited for this size tyre? I had a tyre dealer fit up a faulty cooper stt to my standard 50th anniversary tri spoke rim and at full lock it was touching the chassis and in the opposite lock it was touching the shock tower. Still really want to try and fit these but if it is going to be to problematic i will stick with the 265`s. Thanks again.

I am about to do a 50mm bodylift in preparation to fit 285/75R16 tyres. If your 90 has no air-bags this would be an option, It can be relatively cheap.
Im in a 4wd club and have to keep up with 4-6inch lifted patrols and cruiser, once its finished it will look good, so yeah its worth the hassle.
I have 80series landcruiser rims with a '0' offset. (16x8inch)2000 Toyota Prado GXL- Gone, but not forgotten...

Have a second vehicle with a complete spare in the backyard. Hence why my body panels aren't matching colours 8)
Leave the Prado for "touring" style trips and have something else that doesn't matter if it's broken, rolled or generally just beaten up.2000 Toyota Prado GXL- Gone, but not forgotten...

Mods to make them fit: 2" bodylift + 1" spacers on the front struts = 2" more lift.

Re: fitting 33" or 285/75/16 tyres to 90 series?
hey guys,
I have just lifted my KZJ90 with a 2" OME susp lift. I haven't done any other modifications (yet!). Next step is to get better looking tyres. I am right now on 265x70R16 tyres (which i believe is the stock size). These look quite small now in the wheel arches, so the car doesn't look cool at all. What is the next size up that you would recomend that would not require cutting in wheel arches etc. I was thinking of 255x75R16. Any feedback would be appreciated.
On a completely different note: Has any one here ever tried painting normal silver colored alu-rims with black paint??Landcruiser Colorado KZJ90(SWB) 3.0GXTD, 2" OME lift

Re: fitting 33" or 285/75/16 tyres to 90 series?
The common sizes are:
265/70R16 - 777.2mm - Original.
265/75R16 - 803.6mm - Best size with 2" lift. No other mods required.
285/75R16 - 833.8mm - Requires body seam/flare/mudflap modifications of the front wheel arches (at the mudflap). Also a body lift or custom suspension beyond 2" to prevent rubbing and catching of flares.
Uncommon sizes (hard to purchase when out bush!):
255/75R16 - 788.7mm - Smaller than a 265/75, so why bother?
255/85R16 - 839.7mm - Expect the same mod requirements as the 285/75R16 - but with less width, the rubbing should not be as bad. I haven't seen one with this size, yet...glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90
