Boatleg, is your 120 a D4D 6 speed?, I had a new clutch fitted 6 months ago minus the sleeve and i reckon the clutch is starting to get heavy.
    Cheers.

Hi azzss, it is a V6, and I am not sure if the two are the same but I would guess they were. Suggest many others would look the same as mine if ever been off the bitumen. Mine has done nearly 180,000km.

I got an email back this morning from the owner of www.pdmusa.com

        Steve,
The kit is still in development. Toyota will not allow export of parts out of Australia to the USA. We are trying to locate other sources for the bearing. It is not used in the U.S. I will keep you posted on the progress.

Any more news on the sleve for the diesels?. I reckon i'll drop the box and put one in when they become avilable as the thrust bearing is starting to rattle with clutch out.

A couple of months later…any word on the diesel sleeve kit? I have a couple of other questions regarding this:
              1. Can anyone direct me to a website that explains how the thrust bearing plate works and how the sleeve stops the problem recurring? Having trouble visualising how it all goes together?
              2. As it sounds like this sleeve is the long term solution and that Toyota are ignoring the fix I need to find a good (non Toyota) diesel mechanic or clutch specialist in Perth who will work on my Prado. I remember from some time back someone recommending a chap over in Rosmoyne but from memory vaguely recollect he was about to retire? Any recommendations from Perth people would be appreciated.
              3. Probably unrelated but my Prado when parked on an incline in any gear will not hold position. Keeps slipping a cog and rolling fwd or back. Is this due to gearbox wear or some other issue and what is the solution? I fear an expensive one? I ask now as it is probably something worth looking at if doing the thrust bearing.
              Many thx

Ps. A big thank you to nzkiwis for his input to this thread and replying to me in person. Cheers mate.

My 2008 KZJ120 with a 1KZTE diesel engine squeaks and probably needs a repair kit. Any word on a diesel kit?
                Many thanks.

I'm also keen to install one of the sleeves. My clutch is due for replacement with 180k on the clock and just starting to show signs of slippage. I checked out the website and still don't see a diesel 120 version.

I don't mean to dis Toyota Aus, but they (local dealer) just quoted me,

                      Clutch plate - $450.00
                      Pressure plate - $555.00
                      Thrust Bearing - $120.00

Amayama prices are $120.00, $163.00 and $31.00 respectively. What gives?

Just a update regarding the thrust bearing mod I did back in 2012 I sold my 2005 Prado to a bloke at work in June of 2013 with 178250km on the clock he tells me the other day the Prado has now done 410000km and the clutch still feels like new still shifts into gear smoothly thats just over 231000km with nothing being done to the clutch so in my opinion the mod to the thrust bearing was well worth doing.

                          Regards
