  • Fog light symbol on dash

Driving home the other night after getting the new bar fitted i found that the green fog light symbol on the dash which illuminates when the fog lights are switched on was not lighting up. I don't know if this is because of the new bar, as I can't remember if the light worked with the old bar.

Anyway, can anybody suggest possible causes for this light not illuminating? The fog light fuse is intact and the fog lights are working fine. I don't believe there is a seperate fuse for the dash symbol.

I don't really want to pull the dash apart to see if the bulb has blown, but if it coms to that I'll give it a go.

Does anybody have any other suggestions?

Ummmmm..... Having bought mine second hand, with the ARB (& fog lights) fitted. My ' Fog light' switch has never come on.

I will be interested to see if it is still meant too.

i have the same thing happening.
this light has not worked in the time i've had the vehicle.
so 1 day the instrument cluster will be removed the either fit a globe,
      or replace the blown globe..
guessing that mine is not fitted. will find out 1 day

Doesn't it refer to the rear fog light that is not installed in our Prados?

if you look closely you can see the symbols.
just  and you might see then, or maybe i should

Hmm... any idea how I could check this? The fog lights operate fine, so I assume the earthing is all good there. Could there be a seperate earthing wire for the dash light symbol, and if so where do you think this may be located?

There may also be one for rear fog lights, but there is definately one in the dash for the front fog lights (it's similar to the high beam light, only green and with an extra 'squiggly' line).

Just did a test with a mates Prado who also just had the ARB bar installed - without the fog lights. His green dash light does comes on when the stalk switch is activated, and that is with no fog lights attached, so the dash light should work if there are fog lights installed.

i've never had that light come on, before or after the bar went on...

didn't even know it was meant to! figured it to be one of those things that only works on the fancy pants vx/grande's.

                        ok.
looks like it may be too common for it to be a "earthing problem".
so i'll pull out my cluster and check. (starting tonight)
i've been wanting to do this for a while as there are other lights i'd like to see working.
                        i'll keep ya's informed

                          Thats strange
I got the bar on about a week after getting it so I am not 100% that it worked before the bar was put on but it works now. The parkers or headlights have to be on for them to work and for the light on the dash to come on. I could not see ARB going to too much trouble to get it going for me

                            Hi Chaps,
My Green Front Fog Light indicator works fine with the Sov Bar, there is an indicator LED for the front and rear fog lights, I checked the circuit diagram.

pulled out the instrument cluster this arvo.

                              remove lower trim

remove the 2 plastic bolt looking retainers

this is the back of the cluster

the circuit board cover removed. no access to anything here

lightly lifting black instrument decal. these are the upper options

and these are the lower options.
they are all lit by small LED's soldered to the circuit board.
my fog light indicator will never work, cos there is no LED soldered in for this. bugger.
so for those trucks that the foglight indicator doesn't light up.
yer probably in the same boat.
1 good thing. LED's rarely blow, so i don't have to worry about removing it to fix a blown globe.
