  • Thanks. I've been scanning some very old B&W photos of dad along with some more recent ones to put into a dvd to be shown at the funeral service. This is the oldest we have, some where in vicinity of 1940 - 44. Handsome chap, now I know where I get my good looks from.

        It got worse.
        ready for a cold beer.
The half that was out included the beer fridge.

Sounds like an excuse to go to the bottle-o to buy more cold beer

Technology 101: Back up and multiple redundancy Fred. You need two fridges, each on a separate circuit plus a battery powered fridge on the solar. You'll never have that problem again...

              I did have some redundancy.
The fridge in the kitchen is on a separate circuit. Failure on my part there was no back up beer in it.
the battery powered fridge with solar generally used only for camping and days out.
              This may change.
it is under 2 K's to the bottle shop so there is also that as the final backup.

I guess your right i need to get this redundancy sorted out correctly.
              1. Always back up beer in the kitchen fridge.
              2. Get the camp fridge running fulltime.
              3. Go next door raid the mates fridge

Should be pretty easy from here provided i can claim a bit of space in the kitchen fridge.

              • There's always the emergency backup to the backup to the backup: go next door and raid the mate's fridge.

*Not recommended - especially when beverages being consumed contained alcohol. Children should avoid this.

unfortunately I don't have one at home.
I have used one previously then had to explain why the extinguisher had been discharged.
                      Fun Police!!

the other thing that really ticked me off was when I called the power supply authority.

I picked the life threatening option.
they do not consider no cold beer due to a failure on their part as a life threatening situation.
only life support devices are considered life a threatening situation.

                      what is cold beer!!!
                      Life support in my view.

Apparently one should not try this with a dry chemical extinguisher. I'm told it makes a serious mess and doesnt cool the beer. Some people are unemployed for a reason

You have been judged by your peers for what can only be described as a heinous crime.

Taking into account your early guilty plea and a high level of remorse, this court will issue a suspended sentence of 18 months good behaviour bond. Should you reoffend during this time the court will not show leniency and you can expect a long sentence involving salads at all BBQ's, girlie movies with the wife once a month and 2 hour shopping sessions with the wife and kids in tow. Case dismissed.

                            redundancy is in place.

                              • In my job things dont always go as planned and sometimes a job takes longer than expected and the customer has to wait to get there back for an hour or sometimes. I completely understand how frustrating this can be for my customer. But it seems its only the female customers that know hownto complain properly. I'm 6'2" tall and also the same wide. Short hair with a beard can make me look like a scary bastard. I know this... the frustrated female customer take out their frustration towards me. No problem. I understand. My receptionist cops a little of flak but not much. They often end up apologizing to her as well as she works out what she can do to keep them happy.

Now the blokes on the otherhand are complete pricks to my receptionist. They're rude, abusive and foul mouthed. Now she is a pretty tough cookie. But there has been a couple of occasions that she has come out to the workshop and is choking back tears. Tells me everything they've said to her and asks me to come deal with them. Not a problem... i didnt employ her to take my shit.

So why is it that when i get out there and they are face to face with another male they're suddenly nice as pie, they dont mind waiting and i should take as long as I want.

Gutless pricks is what they are. I swear... maybe 1 in 10 will talk to me the way they spoke to her just moments before. Feel like i need to put a sign up like in the hospitals about abuse towards staff will not be tolerated. Or perhaps a sign that mentions any abuse will suddenly incur double time rates at the actual time spent on vehicle.

Can i just add that the majority of time a job takes longer than anticipated is because they've failed to give me all the information to begin with. Which i also usually find is because they're afraid i will charge more despite being a flat rate quote.
