SCV will only at $200 (approx) so cheap insurance. It is one more of the consumable parts in a common rail.

SCV Genuine Toyota $500-600, I use those now, made in Japan. $450 fitted.
      Got 1 on board.
Denso equivalent o.e part made in Thailand cheaper, Had trouble with a couple. Prefer not to use, but will at customers request $380 fitted.

You should do valve clearance check with injectors & egr clean. Big job don't want to keep opening it up too much.

Thanks - all of this information about sourcing bits is very valuable.

        • So at 140, without much rattle and fairly good readings, the planets aligned and Anthony changed the injectors etc. fair bit of muck removed and the drive home almost made me sad as there was hardly ANY rattle.
I bought a diesel and expected it to always rattle like a diesel!
Smoother vehicle now than it's ever been. The wife will be very happy with the quietness in the cabin now.

          • Hi,

Please let me know where I can get a replacement set of the injector seals.

            Thanks.

Toyota had a "recall" on these and have been replacing them at no charge. Check with your local Toyota Dealer first - tell them you are aware of the Customer Experience program dealing with faulty injector seals. They SHOULD run a test on your injectors initially - if any are out of specifications you will need to replace those at the same time, although they will fit them at no additional labour charge to you at the same time they do the seals.

              • Bit the bullet this week and removed the Baileys Injectors and sent them back for testing. The rattle has come back and nothing seams to cure it. These are only 40K km old and started the rattle under 50 deg engine temp earlier this year when they were 25k km old.

Testing came back the injectors are OK but they have recoded the compensation values. Put back in this afternoon and all seems ok but cold start tomorrow will be the test. Won't be cold enough in Brisvegas until next week so will see what happens.

If they where ok why did they need a re code?

                • How can they re-code the injectors if they aren't fitted into the car? You don't code the injectors - you input the unique injector code into the ECM.

                  • After the Injectors are built, they are coded.
BDG are the absolute experts on this.
They are always trying new things & information is always evolving.

So we go by feedback values not so much the rattle, other things can cause rattle & knocks, not always injectors.
You can't always get rid of rattles, but BDG will have done some magic, lets see hey

Those codes that are entered to the ecu will trick it
                    Dave A new code

                    • The code are the longest set of numbers and letters you will ever see. Would like to understand how the codes work when i have two years to spare.
                      Recoding is done with techstream.

Yes, my guess lots of groups of 0.
Technically they are not recoded with tech stream, that's what BDG do, recode.
You will enter the new codes with tech stream
Look forward to hearing results if quieter.

                        • First drive this morning. Not cold enough here in Brisvegas this morning but so far so good.
Not a hard job to do, changing injectors as long as you have the tools etc. Techstream is also relatively easy once you have set up the computer with the software.

                          That's why we have children.

                          • 40,000 on my Denso's now. After Tas GTG, number 2 showed -.5 after warm up. The rest are down close to zero with a high 6 - near 7 mm3 fuel volume. Not bad I reckon.

                            • Hi

My car has done 114,000 miles and makes a real racket when left over night to completely cool. So recently had my injectors supposedly serviced but I have a suspicion they have only had new tips and been recalibrated. I think the rest of the mechanics inside may have remained untouched. Anyway attached are my warm and cold techstream captures. Whats the thoughts ? Once shes warmed up shes absolutely fine.

My thoughts are, get a new set of injectors in there before its too late!
Whoever you went to have no idea. Those Injectors are flogged out bad!
With a fresh set you will be very happy.
