diesel rattle in D4D Prado

    It's only because the recent cold weather has made it really noisy. I'm used to diesel's being noisy on cold mornings (we've owned a diesel car every year since I was about 5) but this seems exceptionally so.
    Ahhh for sure, -2.5 not exiting at all.
    What was the cold readings right after they were installed?
    I'm sure they get a small percentage of problems, you get that, it's how the company handles it that matters.
    You will get sorted out, I'm sure.

      Baileys know there is a problem, they're keeping a tally...

      Perhaps Admins we should have a sticky on this titled 'Baileys Injectors issues' or 'Baileys Injector issue with Cylinder 3 after less than 12 months'.

      Those with Baileys remanufactured injectors in their rigs, keep onto your injector feedback readings, make sure they're done at each service (minimum) - they don't take long to run out 2.9 or 3.0mm3...
      Perhaps those with Bailey's injectors can post in this existing thread.

        Just to follow up - They found injector 3 was sticking but replaced all 4 - all under warranty. Unfortunately I didn't get to speak to a tech as I had to high tail it back to Sydney for work, so I didn't find out the cause.

        Definitely sounded better when I started it up this morning. So all good as far as I am concerned.

          This appears to be what they do in warranty cases - replace all four. The told me mine were returned as re-re-manufactured but my mechanic confirmed they sent a new set (the serial numbers were not what he sent back initially).

          You wont find out the cause other that 'manufacturing fault'...

            Mine are probably a direct replacement. They took the car in Monday night and had it ready Tuesday afternoon. Don't think they can re-manufacture in that time frame

            • Seems baileys are having quite a few issues with their Injectors, but they certainly stand by their warranty. I think Baileys like a lot of others are still on a big learning curve about CRD's.

              • Baileys injectors installed with new motor (recon) last year. 0.5 oversize and new aftermarket head. On cold morning i get crackles under load up to 50 deg C. Run techstream and all reading the same as when installed. Motor now 40000km and wondering is it the cylinder head or slightly higher compression with the oversize bore.

                  • Not piston slap. Only does it under the 50 deg ( water temp) and very low ambient temp.

                      Yes the way to do injectors is in sets of 4!!! that's the way experts do it.

                          That's right Dave Toyota can change out injectors, but they not experts.
                          Many of them have learned the hard way to do them as a set of 4. Some still do 1 or 2.
