  • That's some great detective work SWR! I'm sure a lot of people will be grateful.

As someone said previously, it wouldn't be so bad treating injectors as a consumable if they weren't so ridiculously expensive.

    • My dealer gave me a part listing printout on a new injector for the 07/08 120 series (T2367039316), it came in at $1225.70 (includes GST). Rocklea diesel can do the same for $550. Even the parts girl commented that she thought it was astronomical that a Toyota branded box could cost $700 just for the cardboard. The service manager said he could get them in for a little over $500. But my job sheet shows they charged $860 each (less GST).

        • Yeah, right. Why would you risk fitting a second hand product that you know nothing about.

          • Interesting!.... I was told only 2 x weeks ago that they cost $845 each from Toyota?

The guy on ebay reckons They retail for $699 each through Toyota.

I personally would prefer to pay $342.67 each for Brand new Denso direct from japan without the TOYOTA logo

            • OK, got car back from dealer today. Seems they were very keen to ensure that there was no new problem. Checked the turbo and injectors and everything is good. The whine is normal according to mechanic - they took another 120 for a drive to compare. Maybe it's now working properly, we'll see. They even wanted me to book it in to get the 2 other injectors fitted. I asked what the deal is and seems that I will be up for the 2 injectors and labour for fitting. Not much of a deal. I will have to wait until after the GTG as I haven't any time to spare to get it done before. At least I am thinking they may be trying their best to look after my car even if they are hamstrung by head office.

                • Gday ##########

You must admit we have a funny way of being mates in our past threads but i hope you also take it all in good fun like i do!

How is your tipee toeing around the room going!.... There is no typo error with the prices so you better hide behind the counter before a customer see's you!!.. Lol

These guys do appear to be lajit!

I did do allot of background re-search on these guys (Server traffic and search engine logging) and they are world wide and have been around for awhile!

I was prickly at the fact that there web-sever is in Russia but so is allot of other web-sights.

I ordered parts from them because i was a bit skeptic and figured someone had to take one for the boys to see if they are fairdinkum or not!

After i ordered and paid the coin for the parts i must admit i was holding my breath...

Sure enough the parts i ordered turned up 2 x weeks later and they appear to be the goods! ... If not I'll be damned if i can pick them apart from genuine.

The labeling looks authentic and the part numbers are spot-on and all the wording is in Japanese.

This is where the parts was dispatched from in Sydney.

Here is something to back these guys up!

                  http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/ama...ock-lines.html

On the link below i have provided, type the genuine part number (No spacing on the part number) then select "AUD" currency and the price for the part will appear!

If you feel un-sure do as i did and order a cheap (Genuine) part and see how you go as i did.

                  Cheers

                  • An interesting postscript to my battle with Toyota re injector replacement and the VCAT court case. I contacted the local distributor at the end of last week to enquire why I had not received the reimbursement cheque. I was advised that there was a problem because on the day following the court case a number of untruths were published on Pradopoint. After some words were exchanged the manager agreed to sort it out. Yesterday I received a phone call to say the cheque would be in the mail next week. Goes to show that Toyota Australia follows the discussion on PP. The phone call from Toyota yesterday coincided with receipt the same day by mail of the written VCAT decision. I dont suppose that would have any bearing on the matter.
For interest I will quote the Tribunal's order in full so that there can be no confusion.
"The Tribunal orders by consent that the respondent 2: Toyota Australia, will reimburse the applicants the sum of $1242.47, being the amount paid by the applicant for the replacement of injectors in the applicants vehicle"
As previously indicated I will report more fully in a few days time. In the meantime, members can continue to PM me for specific information.

                    • the only way Toyota Australia will respond to us is if we hit them where it hurts - new car sales. I'm in a good position where I can influence this and although no problems with my car yet, I won't think twice about it if it happens.

                      • Got a 1100 klicks on the new motor so far with a further 2000 coming up next week before I hit the Nullabor. Told Toyota that if it stuffs up again then I will burn it where it sits and go and buy a Hyundai.

I would believe the price being around that for trade. as when I had my injectors done recently I was charged $480 per injector and was told the price for these injectors have dropped alot and seem to be getting cheaper every couple of months.

                          • Obviously they're replacing lots of injectors nowadays and more to come. Still making D4D engine. Problems persist despite changes.
Plenty of profit for them even at that price as a result of the volumes to be sold.
                            New set every 100000km?
                            Lots of Prado D4D's.

                            • Well thought I'd better have a look for myself as I don't really expect toyota to actually do it.

Dropped the oil and used a cheap $39 7mm led camera from china and was very happy at what I found.

Dec 06 build D4D now with 155,000k's, screen nice and clean and no signs of any contamination so must be one of the lucky ones.

Can anyone recommend a good reputable place in my area (western Suburbs, Victoria) to get my Injectors checked.

                                Thank in advance
