Spot on I think it was Battlecamp Road - or perhaps we'd just turned off from there.

I have been through there but looks like I didn't take any pictures, apparently my memory is not so good without pictures to remind me

      • I knew people would recognise the Old Laura Homestead. Just didn't want it to be that easy

Probably Hard even if you have been there, I could think of 100 + campsites along the Murray that look similar to that one.

            • It looks very much like the Murray River. I've seen a few spots that look just like that in Rutherglen, Echuca, Bendigo and a few other places scattered through SA and Vic. Even if it was the Murray, that's not exactly narrowing it down much

              • Found this place on our way to Mt Isa last year. Not a view that would be easy to identify.
Made for a great overnight stop though. The grey nomads stayed out near the main road and left this little pearler for us.

                • Looks too brown to be the Curry, too small for the Burdekin and too many big trees above head height for most of the other places in between. If it's not the Cloncurry, I have no idea.

                        • Yep nice spot, 12 miles East of Hopetoun. Story goes that the lagoon used to be full of salmon back in the day, and the local salmon fishermen thought it'd be a good idea to blow a hole in the reef (yes with dynamite) to let more salmon in for easy netting, but the nice natural channel between the reef and the beach filled up with sand instead of salmon and stuffed the whole thing. oh well still a nice spot for a snorkel or to sit in a tyre tube and float down....

                            • Also thanks Gaz, we stopped there and a guy had caught a fish and dropped in the lagoon and the kids spent hours chasing this massive fish.
