matt from memory the bottom bolts were m12 x 90mm 8.8 grade, just get some 100mm and you can always cut em down if there to long. just a tip to, dont bother taking out the bottom radiator bolts and moving the radiator, just drill it from the outside. place a small piece of steel behind inner hole just incase you get a little heavy handed with the drill. that way you will hit the steel instead of ya bottom radiator tank. saves about an hour of ya time. thats my two cents. samo

Whether or not you remove the radiator bolts to allow the radiator to swing out of the way for drilling the holes. You would then still have the problem of installing the bolt as if you mount the nut on the inside of the chassis, it wouldnt leave much room for the radiator to move around when on bumpy roads. This may lead to a blown radiator tank.
As it was with mine i rounded the head of the bolt on the bench grinder to give a little more clearance.
Or maybe im just too fussy, let us know how you get on.

        cheers

          DIY Recovery points.

Thanks Samo for the drawing. I got a customer of mine to make me a set, Mick at Possum Plasma Cutting. He did it for me using your drawing, inputing your design into the computer and knocking out a set. All up cost was $24 for 2, out of 12mm steel.
Saw the Outback Ideas version at the Brisbane 4x4 camping and fishing expo the other week. Cost at the TJM stall was $100 for the pair. I asked the guy behind the counter if they were rated, he said no. Wasn't a real knowledgeable type anyway.
Call Mick he will be more than happy to make more sets, he will post them also. Email me for phone number.
Gee Samo, I hope they fit :!:

Maaate ... you now the designer / engineer usually winds up with nothing but a fake gold watch and a pathetic little redundancy package.

Its the shyster lawyers who draw up all the paperwork who make a fortune from your design.

Oh well ..... back to the drawing board.

got mine (outback ideas) from TJM cost $100 for the pair with bolts and washers included, had planned to get a fitter at work to knock some up but ran out of time before last weekends sand dune adventure.

also mounted with nuts ops: on inside didn't move radiator.. on a side note had to drill through the mount bracket of the TJM front bar as well.

I had my Prado serviced today and asked the guy if he would fit my outback ideas recovery points. He said no problem, but when I picked the car up he hadnt installed them as he reckoned they would damage the radiator. I told him about removing the washer on the bolts but he reckoned it was still too tight and felt the bolt would pull through the chassis.
He also said it would invalidate my warranty if he were to install them.

Looks like im going to have to follow the advice on the forum and install them myself.

Incidently according to ARB none of the recovery points on sale today are actually 'rated'.
