Usually its the other way round......whys my hand brake light comming on?

---Solution - Check you brake fluid level.....same light used for two similar but different purposes.

        1. Hand Brake on
        2. Brake fluid low

Thanks Stormy, I'd been wondering what was up with mine since i bled my rear brakes.
The handbrake light was on and i thought it must probly be the handbrake switch is r.s.
But after reading this thread i re-checked the fluid level, topped it up, and hey presto........ no more annoying light!

Yes whilst it has never happened to me yet, a few have posted the issue before & for some reason it stuck in my head. Recently I had a mate with a 90 series doing the same thing, but only that the light would come on under heavy breaking. Sure enough the fluid was marginally low.

            Cheers

              Re: Brakes warning light on.

Similar thing also happened to me. When accelerating hard, brake warning light would flash on momentarily. Also happened when climbing steep hills. Brake fluid was near but not below low mark. It appears that the sensor was becoming uncovered during climbing/ accelerating. Topped up fluid, no more warning light. Wish all problems were that easy to fix.

                Re: Brakes warning light on.

This sometimes has happened to me as the brake pads wear. It normally occurs as I change from 1st to 2nd. Sure enough, it is marginally low brake fluid.

yep had the same on mine when I hit the brakes or steep inclines would come on for a second then go off. topped up the fluid and light was gone. doesn't need to be at the low mark for it to happen I just make sure to keep it at the full mark and all is good.

ive got a 150 prado and the handbrake warning light comes on intermittently.
ive changed the front and rear pads, checked the fluid level and all ok.
next option to check the switch?
any any pics or details of how to access the handbrake switch?
