The door is concave. As the tyre's profile increases, the tyre gets closer to the ridge around the concave part.

I should have gotten rid of that before I got huge scratches on the door from trapped stones and sticks.

I think the Grande has a bigger plastic concave thingy and its made from a higher quality polymer to withstand pressure from larger tyres.

          Just kidding.

Seriously, don't post any shite responses.

That includes you NTP, MJRandom, Madkore and AJ!

I think that some (not all), well at least one Grande owner has a large concave dent thingy in the side of their head where their Girlfriends have been unsuccessfully trying to knock some sense into them.

I thought the scratch/dent on the rear door was from something else? Something to do with a wife and wheel carrier??

(insert retort here leaving car in neutral)
              Cheers

That's another little ding in the back door, not a scratch That one is now covered by the HF Aerial mount so cant be seen. The scratches from the sticks and stones really annoy me, particularly now I have the wheel carrier and they are easily seen. I would get rid of that plastic insert and space out the wheel carrier just to avoid the damage I have.

                Cheers Andrew

She's OCD, she smacks both sides to achieve uniformity in said dents......

Ondaboat is presently away from his computer. In his absence .... nevermind, everyone knows your car rolled into his because you "forgot how that shifter and lever combo is meant to work and thereby smashing his rear door beyond recognition........

On a brighter note, his son and daughter have been released from intensive care following the severe whiplash they suffered.

In a few more years your "insurance rating 1" status should be reinstated too. not a bad effort for what amounted to attempted murder.

mlc - telling it like it is.

Scott, yours was the post I was looking for, but for one small variation - I have a standard suspension with an ARB bar fitted, anyone out there that has fitted 265/70/R17 's to such a configuration..?

                        Thanks, Henno

schweet, thanks. First time I'm going for the A/T - I had the KM2 M/T on my Hilux previously and must say they blew me away..Potholes: what pothole?! (I had the Hilux in Africa, some roads cannot be called roads but are a maze of 30cm deep, 2m wide potholes). Eventually got 125 000km out of them, (with a fair bit of offroading) so I'm interested to see how the A/T go...

The rule for nsw is 7% larger diameter look it up in VSI6. So many assumptions here

                              265/65/17 is standard , 7%larger means a 285/70/17 is completely legal

Yes, way2go covered that back in post 62. This thread started in 2007 so I think it's fair to say much of the info in early posts is probably out of date.
