Only rough measurements as I was expecting the installer to do before and after measurements and they didn't. They said that the lift had increased by about 42-44ms but should settle. That was a weeks ago.

After another few days driving - they are reading Front - both reading 770 - RL = 820 RR = 810. I can live with that. Goes in for its wheel alignment tomorrow and then on the weekend taking it into the Brindebellas for a bit of a real test.

      • Just had a set of kings racing shocks coil overs with adjustable reservoirs in the front height now 815.
Had kings shock with adjustable reservoirs and kings HD 400kg spring rear now 830.
May have to lower the front so I don't have to do a diff drop

          Before :

          FR 735mm
          FL 730mm
          RR 780mm
          RL 765mm

          Now

          FR 790mm
          FL 790mm
          RR 810mm
          RL 810mm

Droop is 865 Front and 890 at the back
It's been 18 months since this (but only 12k kms) and I will be installing a 60kg winch + toyota bracket to my sovereign bullbar soon.

The front is currently at around 780mm (I have the heavy bash plates, soverign bar, dual batts).

Can I change the 884 springs for 885 for the front and keep the same shocks since they have done so little kms? The current springs will drop to 775mm when whinch is installed (tested by getting a 60kg person sitting on the bullbar).

I'm also thinking of updating the 895 springs at the back to 896. The back is sitting at 805 or so when completely empty. Full tank and the back full of fridges etc and they get to 785mm. Since the car is mostly used for trips what do you guys think?? Will the car sit too high around the town with empty back?? Don't want to me riding near the shock's limits.

          • After you install the winch, the rake will end up around 30mm which is fine. I wouldn't change anything unless you are after more clearance. The rake is there so that when you are loaded up, it allows the rear to come down without looking like you are about to take off down a runway.

Installing airbags in the rear would be better than new springs that might be too harsh around town.

And yes, you can still use the same shocks if you change the front springs.

            • Hey Andrew

Don't think I understand "the rake"?? So in your opinion change the fronts to 885s and leave the rest (maybe throw airbags at the back??) ARB airbags ok? No major dramas with them?

              • Rake is the height difference between front and rear measurements. About 20-30mm rake is the norm.
I would install the winch and see how it settles. If the front settles to 775mm, that is still about 35mm lift over factory. If that is acceptable to you, then you can just leave it alone.

Not sure which ones ARB sells but there is only Polyair and Firestone Coilrite airbags that I know of.

                • Thanks mate, so you wouldn't put 896 springs at the back on a stock car? 50% of the time the car is loaded up now days and 50% empty around town sort of ride.

775mm at the front seems low just a 25mm increase on stock.

The reason why I'm asking is because i'll probably get the same workshop to install the winch and do my front springs (and rears if I end up going that way).

                  • 896 would be good for medium load. 897 is for constant 400kg load.

Excuse my ignorance, but why is keeping it under 800 ideal?

                              • CV angles. Around 800 the CVs are pretty much the same angle as standard with the exception that the front drive shafts run uphill rather than down. More than 800 you should seriously consider a diff drop too.
