  • Recently had bilstein shocks and King springs put in. Haven't got the rear shocks changed yet because I couldn't get the old shocks off so just had front struts and rear springs in for the time being.
Car has ARB Deluxe Winch bar.
King Spring numbers were KTFR-101 and KTRR-102.

    Before:
    Front Left: 730mm
    Front Right: 735mm
    Rear Left: 770
    Rear Right: 780mm

    After:
    Front Left: 800mm
    Front Right: 802mm
    Rear Left: 811mm
    Rear right: 825mm

Noticed since installing the lift that the inner CV boots are squirting grease all over the place so going to plan on getting boot kit and replacing them or just get new shafts. Now the question with shafts, if I were to get new shafts, should I go for standard oem ones or extended ones?

    • I recently had OME suspension fitted to my Prado. At the front, 884 springs and 9000 shocks. At the back 895 and 60004 shocks. Here is an update.

      Before
      Front left: 770mm
      Front right: 773mm
      Rear left: 779mm
      Rear right: 780mm

      After
      Front left: 794mm
      Front right: 797mm
      Rear left: 816mm
      Rear right: 818

Cv angle is almost horrizontal. I am very happy with the results.

      Cheers,

      Javier

      • G'day everyone,

This thread is very helpful in seeing how different brands and models of springs will affect my ride height.

I have an 09 120 V6 with an ARB deluxe bar and standard suspension. I am going to fit a winch, King springs and Drivetech shocks soon. I will post up the results once I have it all fitted.

        Before
        Front left: 725mm
        Front right: 730mm
        Rear left: 770mm
        Rear right: 775mm

        After
        Front left: TBA
        Front right: TBA
        Rear left: TBA
        Rear right: TBA

        Cheers,

        Michael

        • Not sure what's going on to my poor vehicle but here are the figures:

          Before
          Front left: don't quite remember
          Front right: don't quite remember
          Rear left: 72.5 cm
          Rear right: 73.8cm

After (Front A712 + TD spring >.<, Rear: OEM bags + atms' spacer, haven't fooled the height control sensors yet)
          Front left: 86cm
          Front right: 86cm
          Rear left: 73cm
          Rear right: 73.5cm

          • 86cm at the front is way too high. What coils did you use and is the bottom spring seat installed the right way up? Have you got any photos?

            • Is it still on the jack stands? Your droop will be 0.0mm. Or less.

I'll take photo tonight. It was the ToughDog H/D Springs installed by my mechanic 2 months ago when I did the "full service".
Probably the only person happy with the setup is my daughter as she is always lying face up on her car seat

                  • Is 86cm to the bottom of the rim, or to the ground? Doesn't sound right...

                    • Hey van,

860mm ride height on a 712 strut would be record breaking in many bad ways!

It seems unlikely that you would have measured incorrectly...from the ground would mean subtracting in the order of 150mm, which would put you at 710mm, which you would only see on very sagged coils.

I would avoid driving at high speeds if your front end is really at 860mm, you very likely have almost zero droop, and on cambered high speed bends you will lift a wheel, resulting in a dangerous handling situation.

                      Can you redo your measurements again, and confirm you are measuring in the same manner as the first photo in this thread;

                      http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...Measurements-2

If possible, you should also check how much droop you have by jacking the front end off the ground (both sides) on to jack stands.

It is likely you have close to zero droop, which means you will not only have bad handling, you will kill the 712 struts with topouts very quickly.

The culprit in this undesirable 860mm ride height is your coils of course, and this would be a consecutive week where I've seen after market King coils used by third parties (Tough Dog, TJM) giving ludicrously high lifts with unnecessarily high spring rates.

Look forward to seeing your double checked measurements!

                        • When I installed my TDC974HD springs (and struts) it was sitting at 790mm from bottom of the rim with a massive 100mm of travel left.
Im running the ARB bar and a winch (which is only another 20kg) and its been good for years now, not too hard at all.

                          • Thank Andrew & Mark,

You made me really nervous but thank for the usefull info.

Here are all the photos I just took, all from the driver side:

This is the front, driver side ~85.5cm

This is the rear, driver side ~73cm

All these photos are taken from driver side

I attempted to jack the vehicle up from just the passenger side and check again, it doesn't drop much like you said and from the bottom of the rim to the wheel
arch is 88cm which is 2,5cm droop?

I think I will have to check with my mechanic again!

                            • Something is all wrong there mate :-(

Drive carefully, you wouldnt want to destroy a CV sitting up that high!

The seat looks upside down maybe?
