  • Thanks Andrew ,

yeah they are 2883 springs with 90000 shocks . Looking at the paperwork i was at 710 before the the lift and the fitters have 755/760 after on their Paperwork . What wold you expect they should be - you have 2" lift don't you

        • Gday,

I reckon when I bought the car second hand it came with the original suspension, which was more than a little worn out.
So the lift came first with the mods....

I now have the lift and air bags installed into the Prado.
I'm really happy with how the car handles now.
Haven't been back since the install, but no doubt the lift has settled down a little

          • Not sure if the thread is still going. I have a Grande and Sov BB, winch cradle and winch, dual batteries and the height is dreadful - 710cm in the front

            Front :710
Rear:770 (after engine started and it lifted, it seemed to be down at 730 before that which is even lower than the low setting - leaky bags?, raises to 810cm high)

Not sure from the data in this thread, but it seems the average Grande front is lower than GLX?

I'd like to get the front up to the 790cm mark if possible - 790 is a 50cm lift on stock?

My thoughts are therefore heavy duty coils to counter act the weight in the winch etc.
Hard to know what brand, but it seems from the data that OME seems to have the best results?

Anyone willing to make a recommendation on makes/models of struts and springs?

Rear: Airbagman extended + what shocks/struts?
            Front:

Do I need spacers on the front?
Do I need to drop the diff or change CVs?
Should I just get all the extra things like new strut tops/bushes - as per caloffroad site?

            Thanks in advance.

            • Additional question regarding the suspension database.

How do I know which components are suitable for the 120 Grande and what will be achieved by them?

                • Update on our suspension heights:

On delivery: Front 755/760, Rear 770/765
Autocraft install: Front 800, Rear 812
                  Today: Front 790/780, Rear 790/800

Autocraft install was pre bullbar. We've added rear carrier bar and roof rack. The front is holding up, but the rear is sagging even with the polyairs at 10psi. Front shocks are shot, poor control over bumps (repeated oscillations) and dive under brakes etc. This started to occur after the first outback trip, I emailed Autocraft but never had a reply. Maybe it is a problem with the Autocraft valving, or the droop height resulting in topping out the fronts and damaging the shocks. We definitely had front wheels off the ground on the Halligan Bay track and in some of the washouts through the Flinders. Whatever.

Just installed Koni 88-1712 with King KTFR101HD with 6mm Superior top strut spacer. Front end sitting at 795 (sat 10mm lower without spacer)
                    Koni 90-5404L/R with OME896 (springs 9 months old) L/R 830 R/R 815. (Measured 840 when first installed)

                    • I never took any measurements with the OEM suspension. Here is my suspension heights after 12 years, 95.000km and front spacers. Prado 120 3.0 d4d auto.

                      FL: 770mm
                      FR: 773mm

                      RL: 779mm
                      RR: 780mm

CV angle is completely horizontal. Just perfect I will be installing a complete OME suspension kit very soon and I will update after that.

My mate has the OME883 (375mm) at the front with no extra weight and OME895 at the back and his measurements are 770mm and 820mm.

I am considering the OME884 (390mm) for my front axle with no extra weight. I supose it will end up near o just over 800mm. Will it be ok to instal this springs on my Prado120? Or will I be better off with the shorter 883? I figure that it will still be 20mm or 30mm higher at the back but do not want to put too much preasure on cv angles and other parts. Believe me when I say that I have spent weeks reading pradopoint theads but would really apreciate a quick answer.

                      Cheers form Madrid,

                      Javier

                      • OME884 will be fine. You will get to 800mm. at this height, you will start to run out of alignment adjustment (caster) so your steering will be lighter. but it's not a huge concern.

                        • Thanks for your answer amts, that is music to my ears. I was really hoping to get the thumbs up from a senior member of pradopoint. The spring spacers set me at 770mm at the moment but I am looking for a bit more lift at the front.
If nobody advices me against it, I think I will order the OME883 with 90000 for the front and OME 895 and 60004 for the back.

                          Cheers,

                          Javier

                          • I would remove the front spacers and go OME884 at the front. OME895 will be fine at the rear.
