  • Finally getting my 2" lift next Wednesday, so thought I would throw in my stock measurements first.
08 Grande, still has stock suspension with nothing else fitted except an alloy bar.
    Front avg. 730mm
    Rear avg Med setting 770mm
    Rear avg High setting 805mm
Can't wait to see how it comes out. It's only taken 2 years to get around to it.

    • Just had OME suspension fitted yesterday part nos 883 coils and 90000 struts on the front, 896 coils and 60005 shocks on the rear. No bar (next week if I am lucky and an upgrade to 884 coils) or winch or dual battery in the front. Nearly finished fitting out the back, 2nd battery, fridge, air compressor, installed custom draw setup nearly finished.

      • 765 front & 825 rear that is with 2" tough dogs. Thinking of getting some of AJ's strut spacers to bring the front up some more. I have steel bar, steel cable winch, dual batts, steel bashplates under and soon to be rock sliders and brush bars.

        • So I had a 2" Dobinsons Kit installed yesterday.

Went from original setup with 220,000 Km's with a ARB Deluxe Winch Bar on front, and nothing in the back.

You got a 4 inch lift for the price of a 2" Looking at the before measurements yours had sagged pretty badly so the upgrade was definitely due.

            • Tough dog shocks
              Ome 885 H/D springs
              Front 760mm
              Rear 840mm
ARB deluxe bar and 12000lb winch
I hate the nose dive look
so I added 40mm spacers raised the front 70mm
not happy as the front sits high at 830mm
do tough dog shocks have a lower spring seat than the others?

              • Jeepetr, front is too high without a diff drop. Was thus just installed? If so should drop a little, maybe 10mm but keep an eye on the CV angles and boots for leakage. What is the droop like? Measure this and post up because you don't want to top out the struts.

                • Agreed, front is too high. Droop shouldn't be a problem because it looks like only strut spacers were used. Need to space down the bumpstops though.

Just back from 3 weeks on Fraser Island. The day before we left had ARB Sahara Bar fitted and the front coils replaced with part no 884. Didnt get a chance to check before we left but it looked very high at the front, but figured it might have been something to do with all the gear in the back, drawer unit full of stuff, 60l fridge, 120 a/hr agm battery, compressor, 50l water tank, full fuel etc. Current measurements with just the drawer carcass and battery in the back maybe 60kgs and just about zero fuel.

                    RL: 815 RR:820

Still looks down at the back to me, maybe it is just the side steps that give that impression. Also I need to jack it up and check droop as on the bumpy tracks I got the feeling the front needed more down travel. Otherwise happy with the ride and handling of the OME setup.

                    • Hey rogjil,

Saggy rear end in the Prado is all too common! The OME rear coils are all a bit on the short side for the rear of the Prado, at only 390mm free height, and the 896's are made a bit stiffer in spring rate to try and get some lift.

It certainly looks like from your ride height numbers that the rear is sagging when loaded.

If you're going to do regular trips with the rear loaded up, I'd look into getting some airbags, they will keep the car nice and level.

                      • Hi Mark

Yeah might have to go airbags, ideally want to keep the drawers basically full of stuff, battery, fridge, etc in the back all the time. Makes a day trip up Teewah/Rainbow easy.

                        Cheers Roger

AMTS - what difference in height does your Spacer make ? I've been looking at the non lifted (granted no dual battery , winch , ARB Steel Bar) 150 series and it looks more lifted than my 120 with the Old Man Emu 2" sports lift . intrigued as i'd have though i'd have been higher

                              • AJ120 is the one that does the strut spacer. Currently the 6mm version gives an actual lift of ~12mm.

But yours has sagged back to factory height at the front. I'm guessing that you have 883 coils at the front? You would need new coils as the spacer alone won't get you the 40mm height increase needed.
