We have an aluminium supplier here that does sell it so I will have to do up some plans.
Would be interested to see how this pans out - I am thinking it could become a potential noise creator if the measurements / joins are not spot on.

He mentions in the video that its not removable due to the size. Looking at the way its put together, it would be very easy to make the wings removable so that the draws could slide in/out as one piece through the door space, if desired. Being aluminium and plastic it should not be to heavy.

      • This thread is the reason i joined PP! While researching Prados in preparation of buying a vehicle, who should constantly pop up? PP! And while I'm ashamed to admit i just leached all the info I could off this site to help me in my decision, I'm proud to say I'm now both a Prado owner and a PP member! Big thanks to all users for all the useful info on Prados. Planning on driving (relocating) from Perth to Brisbane via the top end of Oz, a trip taking at least 6 weeks. Will be looking at installing some drawers to make the trip a little less painful in terms of storage, so many awesome ideas and helpful hints in this thread! Will upload some pics once the project is complete.

        • it's only taken me a week to read all this but some brilliant ideas in there thanks everyone!
I had a shelf system in my old girl but need to start again - a few new ideas here and especially love the mounting ideas to the seat rod.
          Cheers, Dave

            • My new drawers almost finnished. Ill paint the timber you can see black and the two end pieces that are missing will go in once I've figured out what I want. I've got a water tank going in the back of the drawers than ill have a water tap on the right hand side and have a power outlet on the left hand side. The drawers come out easy and they bolt down with 4 bolts. The drawers can take 65 kg when fully extended and they lock in and in the out position.

Can I ask how you have secured them?

                  • Took the brackets that hold the rear seats down out and bought long high tensile bolts and used the holes. So four ten mm bolts.

Here's a pic of the bolts. I bought some big flat washers too to spread the load on the ply.

                      • Here's the first stage of mine done.
Personally I'm not interested in drawers as i like being able to be more flexible with the space and use plastic tubs that i can take out and put in the tent.
I also have a Platinum Drop down fridge slide for the top level. I tried a different design this time to my old one, and used the 25mm square tube from Bunnings with the plastic connectors, plus 12mm ply. I liked being able to make a cargo barrier of sorts built into it.
Super easy for me (just needed a drop saw to cut nice square angles) and heaps lighter than my old all timber MDF setup.
Now just working on the fixing brackets and then carpet.

Hi Hoody, the bolt for the tie down loops in the cargo area of the Prado is only 8mm shank.
