    ARB Bar brace

here are some pics of the RHS brace.

i just gusseted the back side and welded some round bar to the front side. there isn't much more room as the mounting bolts get a bit close. i just haven't gotten around to taking the bent ones off and fitting these.

it seems i can only post 4 pics at a time for now.

i also ran a bead of weld down the inside as well, as this was a weak spot and if it had been welded up, may not have bent in the 1st place.

Good call on the bracing. Dad mentioned we should do this when were painting mine, if I have any problems with mine, I will remove them and do the same.

        Cheers,

Thanks for posting up the pictures of the bracing - might have to look at modifying mine before I fit them. Having said that, I might wait until after everything is fitted first so that I don't void the warranty before knowing it all fits together OK. I wonder if I could fit my existing recovery points outside of these or make up some other 12mm steel plate to go beside the ARB ones?

this may be another option to gusset.

triangles would be 5mm plate gusset.

arrows are where the weld on the under sides have broken.

Some great pictures making it very clear, thanks. I now realise that I can't fit my original recovery points next to the ARB brace due to the piece at the side that needs bracing.

Like I said, I'm reluctant to do anything until I know it's all good due to the warranty issue.

Looking at the assembly instructions, the rear most mount for the side brace uses a captive nut on a plate that you break off once fitted. If you remove the side brace do you have to get a new captive nut and plate to refit it?

I guess the other option may be to weld extra braces in situ rather than remove it?

I have organised a bar now, cant wait. Probably for next week.
What he quoted me seemed very high, $2450 RRP but he would do it for $2200.
                    Still it sounded very high.
After a ring around his discounted price is about $200 more than anybody elses RRP.

Anyway, miraculously, the price has dropped by $300

                    Now its $1900 fitted!

Got to be happy with that

That sounds pretty good, I'm picking my winch bar up tomorrow for $1550 (including fog lights). They wanted an extra $250 to fit making $1800. I am paying cash though.

Nice work. Mine cost me $2200 colour coded and I had to fit myself. You can use the money saved for a set of lights for your new bar.

                          Good score.
$250 is really cheap for fitting, cheapest I was quoted was $350 to fit.

I was pretty happy with the price for the bar but didn't want to pay for fitting, I'd rather spend the extra $250 on something else - actually I have (TJM Bash Plate and a Sand Flag).

From what I understand (and reading the instructions) the only thing that needs two people is actually lifting the bar into place once the brackets are fitted. I plan to fit on my own and just call someone in to help with the lift. Having said that I have access to both an overhead hoist and a forklift so I may try one of those first.

Just picked up the bar and found out they would have charged $270 to fit (not $250) - not sure if they would have charged extra to fit the fog lights. List price for fitting fog lights is $45 so $300 is probably about right. I plan on taking half a day off work in the morning to fit - photo's to come.
