  • IPF 900 series HID

Anyone put HIDs in any old school 900 series IPFs with the 130 watt h3 ?
With all the talk on HIDs im thinking of doing my IPFs, Is it an obvious question to ask if 35 watt HID is brighter than 130 Halogen ? I know the colour and current consumption advantage but interested in actual light output ?

    Yes.

And Yes the HID is WAY brighter than the (constantly blowing) 130 watter.

I modified mine about a year ago, took a few hours all up.

        Good stuff !

Its funny you mention the 130 watt globes blowing, the only globes that dont are the very expensive IPF 130 watt globes, my first set lasted years, I then went thru at least 3 normal brand 130 watt h3 till I was talking to the ARB guys and said I cant seem to keep globes up to these IPF lights, his recomendation was go back to IPF globes, which I did with some hesitance but hey he was right !!!! They have lasted so much longer than the normal brand globes still on that set of IPF globes.

What HID kit did you go with TP ? 35 watt 6000 colour ?

          Yep, 35 watt 6000k.

I went back to 100 watt halogen as I went thru 4 130's in one country maintenance run for work in a week! (I do this run every 3 months too !)

Didnt ever blow another one after that, and I reckon the light output was similar.
          Nothing like HID though.

TP, my 900s are also on my work ute which covers heaps of ks of back track service work every week including lots of mountain hilltop climbes, the IPF 130 watt globes have been in for at least a year and are still going strong, I travel 45 to 50 k a year. I now am going to put HIDs in them, I will stress test them  keep everyone posted

                      G'Day Crew,

Buying a set of IPF 900XS lights and having them fitted by ARB in Capalaba (Brisbane) this Wednesday. What should I look out for install wise?? I expect a professional job, but dont know what to look for!

I am sure that they will do a great job..............

Looking at $540 installed. Was told that IPF do a 50Watt HID conversion kit which can be fitted later on, which I intend to do sooner rather than later.

Cost of the conversion kit fitted is about $500.00, so just on $1,000.00 all up. ARB did quote me $1700.00 for the genuine IPF 900 HID lights fitted, not too sure if it is worth going down this route straight up?

Sure beats the Quote I got from TJM for Lightforce HID $2448.00 fitted and Hella 4000's for $2994.00 fitted

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

                      Regards,

                      Rob

                              Hey Guys,

can someone point me in the right direction ( Ebay or otherwise) to get the HID upgrade for my IPF 900 XS lights. I have been reading about the Lightforce upgrade and I want in!!!

I have found a link for www.predatorparts.com.au in Brisvagas but he seems about $100 dearer than everyone is talking.....

                              Any help is appreciated
