Came across a weird one in the last couple of days, my wife leaves the headlights on all the time, using the key off to turn them off. Well the car had a mysterious flat battery last week, then twice she said the lights didnt turn off with the key, but not every time, after having a play with it about 1 in 3 times the lights wouldnt turn off with the key ( and opening door ) but the interior light seemed to be working fine. Then I had a look in the manual ( shock horror ) and read that the interior light comes on when the key is switched off as well as when the door is opened, my drivers door has an intermittent door pin switch, which I didnt pick up on straight away but that is what triggers the headlights to switch off. I will pull it apart and clean the contacts over the weekend should be all good then.

i have the lights on all the time too, use the keys (&door) to shut them off....
only think i can think off would be if the faulty switch didn't recognize the door being opened to shut it off?
or once i left the engine running after a long run on the highway, and because i was getting things out of the passenger side i lent over from inside to turn the key off and take it out. came back out to the car about an hour later and the lights were still on because i hadn't opened the driver door to kill it off....

Hey guys
I have had the same thing happen but fortunately I came back to the vehicle within a few minutes and saw the headlights still burning. Don't know if it could be contacts in mine though as the vehicle has only done 16,000k's.
I'll keep an eye on it from now on though06 GXL D4D, 6spd, Snorkel, ARB bar, XS900 50w HID lights, 55W HID Headlight upgrades, T/bar, 7" GPS, QStarz data logger, 52L Bushman Fridge, Premier winch, Sandgrabbas, GME TX3440, AE4705 antenna, Scangauge II, Dual Batteries, Aero bars & rack, Drawers, 2" Ironman/Rancho/King lift, Under bonnet compressor, Black ducks, Voltage booster, Rear table, AVE TPMS,

Yep that is my first job in the morning, worked all day today, bit concerned though that the lights off relies solely on the door pin as the off signal, Vommodores if I remember corectly turn off with the actual key, this I would think would be more reliable, as the poor door pin cops crap and moisture etc, and if it doesnt turn off just once you could easily be stranded ( or my wife anyway )
