I have had the door replaced once under warranty as the door had sagged. Unfortunately I have had a second door failure but was my fault. Opened the door in strong winds and the door just acted like a big sail and slammed opened breaking the weld at the bottom of the door.

One thing I have since learned take care when opening in strong winds.

I am looking at fitting some sort of gas strutt to stop the door from opening too fast. Will post info and pics when I have modified the door in the Modified section.

    Regards

Grid, I second Blokey's advice. Get the dealer to do it, their problem, their grey hairs.

Wanting to do it yourself: either you live somewhere well remote like Wiluna, WA, or you have absolutely no confidence in your local dealer (this could be excusable given what I've heard about some dealer's service departments.)

Good luck either way - let us know how you get on,

      Drew.

I have had similar probs with my back door, '05 GXL, split the weld in the wind. Toyo replaced the door and said that it was a new part number, hence a faulty door replaced if you complain. My next door prob was a clunk, but when I went to the service department in the morning --- no sound. They said that it was the moisture in the striker that silenced the sound! They adjusted the door and put door/dry grease in and bingo, no sound.

While we are on the subject of the back door, a big subject it is too! Mine periodically develops a squeak. It only happens when the tyre is on, the sound originates from the striker support, a touch of white grease and it's gone. No big deal really, I've just learned to live with it.

            Rear door sagging update

Getting back to the problem with the rear door sagging.
I took it to Northpoint on main north rd here in Adelaide and after about a half hour came back and said they are all the same and cant be fixed   .
Wasn't happy with there reply and went and looked at others in there lot........and they are right they all sag :?
So i got home and got the toolbox out and fixed it myself.
Undone the top hinge bolts(just under tight) (also had to undo the tail light to get into some of the bolt heads) and used a plastic block on the middle hinge and gave it a good tap and moved it about 2 mm,tightened the bolts again and it is perfect.doesn't drop, doesn't sag and shuts very easy now.
Touched up the paint around the bolt heads and edge of the hinge to body(looks like new)

Anyone else with the same problem might want to do this, as adjusting the striker will lower the door closer to the rear bumper and may hit / and rub the top of bumper.
Its a very easy job and takes about 1/2 to fix.

Have you got any pics? My rear door has sagged and i am having some trouble understanding. It may be because i dont have the car in front of me at the moment or that its friday and my brain has left the office till monday. :?

                more info on hinge adjustment

No sorry i haven't got any pictures, only 4 top hinge bolts that need to be slightly loosened, then tap (with a plastic/wood block) the hinge out-ward from center of car. Then re-tighten all 4 bolts (firm) don't over tighten them as they might break the thread.close the back door and check it aligns with the striker and is not to high.if it is to high loosen the bolts again and lean on the door (A LITTLE BIT...NOT TO MUCH)and that will bring the door back down a bit. paint when finished adjusting.
just follow these steps and advice...you cant go to wrong.

                  Hi all

Thought I would share the solution (hopefully) to my door continually sagging!

After compaining a number of times about my door (VX Aug 2007) sagging and having them adjust it each time it was in, the last time they agreed to replace the hinges!

Apparently there are a different replacement set now available to deal with the door sagging.

                  Here is some pictures:

                  New Top Hinge

                  New Bottom Hinge

They did not come colour coded - which I have complained about and they are investigating (but they are not too bad if they stay black )

Unfortunately I did not think to take a close up Pic of the hinges before to compare (others please share)

Anyway interesting that there is now a different designed hinge available , so we will have to see how it goes now over a period of time!

                  Cheers

But seriously, I think that the new hinge seems to be a slightly heavier, thicker construction
