Its only 2 months since i bought my winch cradle from Toyota. No mention of not needing one.
Wouldn't want to put to much load on the bar without it.
Fitting was pretty much as described on here.

Thanks for the replys. Toyota fitted the winch bracket yesterday, got a new part number TOPZQ29602WC. $261 fitted but they called called today to say they have overcharged so we will see if it shold have been covered as part of the recall. there is still a small issue the X9 winch reels off the bottom and now rubs over the window opening in the bracket. Not good. I'll see what they recomend for that.

Bobbob is correct. The original Toyota winch cradle will not fit with the replacement bullbar mounting kit. The replacement winch cradle is a different design and even more substantial. I just had the new mounting kit fitted and my dealer also replaced the older style winch cradle. Unfortunately, they actually fitted the cradle while replacing the mounting brackets. I'm now in the process of fitting my winch "post" installation. It looks tight, but I think it can be done. I'll post pics of the skinned knuckles when I'm finished, and I'll try to keep the swearing to a minimum.

Well Toyota refunded the total amount, it turns out the winch cradle is part of the recall. As for the cable runing over the edge of the window opening the advice from the service guy at Jonkers Toyota "it's yours now do what you want with it" so can I take an angle grinder to it "do what you want". The only problem with this is I have to remove the winch to do it. Aww well can't have everything.

It seems you cannot buy a Soverign bar winch cradle anymore from Toyota. Out of stock around the country (but they had a fairlead in stock LOL), are there any non fabricated alternatives around that will bolt straight in to the Tojo bar?

I think the OEM supplier may have gone bankrupt I believe????

Hey Snowy FNQ, did you happen to track down a winch cradle? I am in the process of finding one as well and Toyota said they no longer make them. Just wondering also if anyone knows of an alternative make that fits.

Belly, the new winch cradle comes with the bulbar mounting recall and the new part number is TOPZQ29602WC.

Bobbob, thanks for the reply. Forgive me for sounding a little dumb. I have already had my new bull bar mounts replaced sometime ago. Just wondering if you are saying the winch cradle is physically incorporated into the new mounts? I am away at the moment and don't have my car with me to check but from memory the mounts don't look like they would cradle a winch as is.
If not, they certainly didn't offer the cradle to me and the other day when I asked the "Parts" guy about a winch cradle he said there were none in the country and they had stopped making them . You would think he would know about the recall and new parts....or maybe not Might stop in there on the way home tomorrow and question them some more. Hopefully I will get a better response. Need to get a winch on asap so I can get my new suspension.

Details says that it was bought late last year. Not sure if it is the new/recalled mount or not. My local dealar says that it is still available.

Old plate won't fit new

Just beware that an old winch plate is not compatable with the new bullbar supports.

Your dealer can't sneak you in as part of the recall? From speaking to the dealer, the bar mount and winch cradle come as a kit for the recall activity. I guess not everyone has a winch so wouldn't have needed the winch cradle from the recall, unless the dealers have been instructed to fit the winch cradle regardless.

I tried this one on Andrew when we had our mounts replaced, but they were adamant that the winch cradle was only to be replaced if the vehicle had one fitted.
