Hi All,
Has anyone installed or considered installing a DP Chip + Taipan Exhaust on a 120 Series D4D, 1KD-FTV Engine?
If so, what were the power gains, and have there been any problems?
Please advise

Hi GXL08 ive got the DP Chip with standard exhaust Very happy with it good power gains, Would like to hear about the Taipan as its on my list to do. As for fuel savings not sure the more power you have the more you use it plus with all the extras on the car shes getting heavy last time i worked it out i got 10.5lt /100km cruzing at 110kph empty. Only had one problem (my fault) flat battery had to use genny to charge up disconected cables but forgot about winch ones, The chip didnt like it went into limp mode, put bypass blank in sent chip back, DP fixed it up . So im happy with power cant fault their service.2008 Prado GXL D4D Auto Silver, 265/70x17 Mickythompson ATZ 4 ribs, ARB delux Bar Avenger Mako 9500 winch, TJM XGS Gold suspension, Poly airs, Safari Snorkel, Dual Battery system, Voltage Booster, Lightforce XGT lights, GME TX3100 UHF,ARB CKMA12 Compressor, ENZD special quad breather kit,Outback Draw system 1/2 Cargo Barrier,Kaymar duel wheel carrier,AJ120 Sliders, Taipan XP Exhaust, Twin E Lockers, Foxwing, Pioneer Platform.

Hello Stuart, I have had a DP Chip on my car since 2009. Noticed an improvement immediately. It didn't really reduce fuel consumption but the extra performance without costing any more. I ran the Chip at #4. Last year I put a Beaudesert exhaust on and noticed a drop of fuel consumption by about 0.9 Lt/100km (mid to high 10s). It started to increase to mid 11s. I then had the injectors replaced (see injector pricing thread). The performance has improved enormously, particularly down low and mid-range acceleration. The consumption hasn't changed, still mid 11s. Might have more to do with my using the power than anything else. I am really enjoying the extra performance. I currently run the chip at #5.

Just installed a Diesel Power Digi CR chip in my 2008 D4D Prado on a setting of 8 today.
This is a German made chip which increases boost as well as fuel rail pressure.
Started on a setting of 6 but couldn't help but put it up to 8
Heaps more power, have just got back from a 3 hour drive, engine is a lot quieter,
idle revs are 75 to 100rpm lower and lower and mid range power and torque increased significantly.
Overtaking now not a worry. Will fill it up tomorrow morning and get back to you on fuel economy

Just filled the Prado up this morning and got a figure of 11.15 litres per 100km. This is below my average of 11.22L/100km.
so considering the aggressive way I was driving it and aircon on for 50% of the trip I would have to say it is cheaper on fuel.
Not forgetting the setting is on 8 out of a possible 9. I may consider dropping it back down after a while and go for more economy with quite a few long runs coming up.

Digi chip had a fault and caused my engine light to be on constantly even after it was reset a dozen times, also lost top end power.
Removed the Digi chip and replaced it with an Italian Chipbox chip, loads more power than the Digi chip and there seems to be no Turbo lag.
I hope this chip is better. I have been told that they will tell me what was wrong with the other chip after easter, will be interesting to hear the out come.2012 BLACK 150 GXL PRADO, ARB DELUXE COLOUR CODED WINCH BAR, REDARC DUAL BATTERIES, 240 BLITZ HID UPGRADE SPOTTIES, 32 INCH LIGHT BAR, LED INTERIOR LIGHTING, HID AND LED HEADLIGHT UPGRADES, CHIP BOX POWER CHIP, 265/70/17 AT BFG, REDARC ELECTIC BRAKES, SCANGAUGE, SAFARI SNORKLE, POLY AIR BAGS, 40 LTR ENGEL, MAXTRAX, RECOVERY POINTS, ARB TOWBAR, TOYOTA ROOF BARS.

Chipbox chip is fantastic heaps more horsepower and torque and fuel consumption down from 11.22 LPHK too 9.78 LPH this is awesome considering driving stile has got more aggressive than anything. Highly recommended.2012 BLACK 150 GXL PRADO, ARB DELUXE COLOUR CODED WINCH BAR, REDARC DUAL BATTERIES, 240 BLITZ HID UPGRADE SPOTTIES, 32 INCH LIGHT BAR, LED INTERIOR LIGHTING, HID AND LED HEADLIGHT UPGRADES, CHIP BOX POWER CHIP, 265/70/17 AT BFG, REDARC ELECTIC BRAKES, SCANGAUGE, SAFARI SNORKLE, POLY AIR BAGS, 40 LTR ENGEL, MAXTRAX, RECOVERY POINTS, ARB TOWBAR, TOYOTA ROOF BARS.
