  • Hi BlakMoth, I remember these 2 were a pain in the as#. I have an 08 D4D and the at breather was poking up at the bottom of the engine bay on the drivers side. I could only reach this by lying across engine and reaching down with a knife to cut the hose just under breather which was held in a metal clamp that I couldn't undo, then pushed it underneath the car so I could reach it to extend.
    Cheers Matt

        • Lol quite a lot. Trying to figure out how to convince the wife to do it with her little dainty hands.

Yep, no barb on that one and it does seem a little dodgy. I keep checking mine every 5000k's when I do the oil change. I would still love to find something that would give me a bit more piece of mind.

            • Bought a set of breathers on ebay from air_on_board_aust.

A plate with 4 breathers, 4 generic connectors to the diffs etc and a good length of hose. $52 delivered.

Given the difficulty of getting at the manual transmission breather on top of the tranny, and no idea how to extract it, I only need 3.

The supplied threaded connections suited only the rear diff. The front diff breather, I pulled the cap off the original breather and drilled it out to the outside diameter of the supplied breather pipe. Fits well and tight, will glue or silicone it in place.

I found the transfer case breather on the driver's side, pulled it over to the passenger side and hooked it up with a double barb irrigation connector. Attached it to an existing stud on the underbody.
