  • From the trip computer we're presently getting 8.1L/100 km's with a mix of freeway and city driving, Air con of for 50% of the time. Driving as conservatively as possible, just to see what we can get. We were in the low 7's when on the freeway. Wife normally only gets around 10L/100km's

Edit - 03/04/2015 Drove around 6 hours of 4wd tracks through the High Plains Dargo, Blue Rag Spur and Collingwood track. Plus towing a camper around 600km's on the blacktop and we sat on 11.4L/100km

    Mods:
Baileys injectors fitted around 3,000 km's ago.

    • I was amazed to see under 9s on the gauge over the past couple of days driving down the Kwinana Freeway. All the bars and racks and with spare tyre up top and my BFG muddies on too.

      • Based off Scanguage, I average about 10 doing just normal driving.

Last weekend, did some camping (family + gear) and off road. Did 810KM over the weekend, only flicked over to second tank after 750 KM, averaging 12.

        • Kwinana Freeway run into Perth and back, raining, bumper to bumper: 10.7, suppose will have to be happy with that.

            • Recently did a 1500km trip up and down some mountains and then around Cowra, Parkes and Mudgee and averaged 10.6L/100km.

Baileys full DLC injectors in place now for about 3,000 kms and running beautifully. Also adding CRD Fuel Enhancer at rate of 10mL per 80L (from Cost Effective Maintenance in QLD).

              • Recent family trip to Cairns got 930km out of the first tank pretty damn good for the 1KZ.

                • I average 9.5L/100km with the new General Grabber AT tires. With stock tires it used to be 9.2L/100km

                  • Heading east across the Nullabor with CT and pushing a headwind I managed just under 17 @100 - 110. On the trip back heading west, slight wind from left side, 100km and she cruised at 14.7. That extra 10km/hr is certainly a fuel killer.

                    • Hello boys,
I have an 06 with 210 ks 1kz standard motor except for 3 inch exhaust not done injectors yet get round town driving 12.2 lts per 100 ks, on a recent trip from Perth to Darwin and back with loaded caravan about 2.2 / 2.3 T, average speed about 90 ish bit of off road here and there , over 10000 ks averaged 17.77 lts per 100 ks , will have to double check my figures but that's how it looks, not so good on the hills but on the flat it was no problem, did get down to 50 kph coming out of Litchfield NP, and it's auto with a cooler.
Was thinking of putting a chip and a dyno tune by GTURBO in Balcatta Perth northern suburbs , but thinking about the MANUAL MAPPER by OZOFROAD , check MANUAL MAPPER on PP sounds very interesting,
                      Cheers Alan.

                      • After 3 years getting between 11 and 12 have just pulled 9.89 after just over 1400km with 4 people in the car, fully loaded in the back and surf board, maxtrax and awning on the roof. Can only be the new injectors that has made the difference!

                        Cheers

                        • Not long did a trip to western NSW from Nth QLD, standard 07 auto d4d 3ltr diesel, no bullbar or racks, 155000km on the clock towing a 7x6 box trailer with cage fully loaded with tents, swags, geni, fridge cloths etc etc for 2x weeks camping for 6x kids 2x adults (not much room left in the car after 3x child seats for 8x people, we averaged 800km per 90ltr tank sitting on 100kph most of the way except for the 110k zones. Some may have been way more due to wet muddy conditions (fun), but that what it roughly worked out overall.

                          • Are these figures off the dash, or actually calculated at fill up. I have seen big discrepancies in the dash to reality on some Prados.

                            • The 120 doesn't have 2 x 90 litre tanks for starters. Typically it will burn up 90 or so litres before the second tank illuminates leaving you less than 70.

Im in the market for a new 120 prado and i just thought that a fuel consumption thread would help me make up my mind a little easier on which engine / transmission to go for.

So if i can ask anyone who owns a 120 prado to post up there fuel consumption figures , it would be appreciated.....

HIGHWAY FUEL CONSUMPTION................today at 100kms/hr an amazing 6.2.(wife and I compete to get the lowest.) Also it was on cruise. Had it down to 5.9. Call bullsh*t all you want. Reading off the scangauge and confirmed the number approx by doing the math.

CITY FUEL CONSUMPTION.......................anywhere up to 14 but averages around late 8s to 10s depending on my mood

This thing CHEWS through the Kms on nothing. Vehicle has 205000kms on the clock with original injectors and using BP premium diesel. New filters all around every 5K including secondary Cat filter every 20K. Are these readings good? I thought they were great after driving a 6Ltr SS for the last 7 years. Happy bloody days when I refill now and then.
