  • Mine seems to be rather on the high side, especially as I take it pretty steady (not a lead foot).

Last time I filled up I got 17.39l/100km mostly round town plus a day out on the Mundaring Powerlines track. Just filled up again after 772.2 km and got 17.5l/100km which included two 120km round trips up to Perth, otherwise mostly round town.

    • I'm averaging about 16-17 l/100 - possibly slightly less given the larger tyres.
But with an upcoming service (including plugs and injectors) it should bring it down a bit.

I know you said you dropped about 1.5 to 2 l per 100km by fitting the headers - does this mean you were sitting between 17.5 and 19 before?

        • I've had up to 23 in the past.
Prior to extractors it was anywhere between 17-20.
I'm not exactly light on the right foot though.

                • Just did Adl, ballarat, Melbourne, thredbo, Canberra, Sydney, coffs harbor, then a 22 hour run coffs to ADL straight thru.
Averaged 11.9 on most of the trip, up into 14's up thredbo way. A best of 10.4 on the return trip somewhere in mid NSW? Pretty happy with that.

65 series tires on, so a big change from the 70's fuel usage!

                  • It would be interesting to see what fuel consumption to weight ratio people are getting. I put mine on the weighbridge and I was 2.68T with full tank of fuel.... pretty much what i was expecting as I run drawers in the back full of recovery gear and a fridge + all the bar work I have and other mods. I get 18L around town, and 13.3L on hwy - I do have full exhaust and chip though + lower diff gears which helps!

                    • On the weighbridge mine sits on 2.42 when full of fuel.
On a run to exmouth last week at 110km/h with roof rack and head wind consumption was 19.5L/100km

                      Coming home it was 17

Normally around town it sits in the 17-18 mark.

                      • I'm just about tol fill up as light has come on. Clock shows 1020km and had her full before that with a combination city and highway driving. I believe that works out to 17.65 l/100km. Have roof rack, bull bar, 265/70/17s. Think i may look into extractors and exhaust though, anyone have any ballpark costs of a system for a v6 petrol?

                          • Had extractors fitted and fuel consumption jumped to 20lt 100km, I then changed 02 sensors and cleaned the sensor in the air intake and still the same. Does anyone have any ideas. The vehicle used to get 13lt 100km even with all the accessories I have on.

Did you notice a performance difference after fitting the extractors?

                              • Yes but it's like bad turbo lag or a power band and the gears don't change down like it used to. Knowing what I do now I wouldn't do it, mind you this was the first time these people had installed these on a prado, took them nearly all day.
