              • G,day all, great forum. I will be purchasing 2016 2.8L diesel GXL in a few weeks so thought I would jump on board now and start learning as I'm going from a SSV Redline to my first 4WD.

                • G'day. I'm Doug, from Werribee.

                  Very new to 4WDs.

Retired teacher, but not enough spare time. Bought a used Prado after two motorcycle accidents on sand. At least I won't fall off this one.

                  This is my Prado:
Model: VX 3.0 L diesel with five seats (the rear row were out [previous owner] and got burned in bushfires).
                  Year: MY2008
                  Colour: Pearl white
Accessories: Toyota tow bar and electrical socket; HN7 SatNav; multiple USB adaptors in front power sockets; high breather vents; Primus freezer.

Wishlist: UNF radio (small unit - where do people fit them?); auxiliary battery, extra 12 V pouts in rear and 240 V sine wave inverter (to power computer power supply); snorkel, sixth wheel.
Can't think of anything else yet, but probably will.

My aim is to complete certain trips, then finish: Savannah Way, Gibb River Road; Tanami Track; Cameron Corner; Cape York; Bungle Bungles; source of Murray. Other suggestions welcomed.

My Prado has a "wrap" at the rear - RFDS donation info on the rear, dramatic motorcycle accident pictures on side rears.

                            • A re-introduction... Name is Rob. Just traded my 2007 GXL Diesel Auto (pretty sure I've been a member here since then) for a 2016 VX Diesel. The old girl never lets us down, so made sense to keep a Prado in the family. I got Toyota to fit:
                              -Towbar
                              -Safari Snorkel
                              -Cooper AT/3 tyres
                              -TJM T3 Colour Coded bar

23inch LED Light Bar went on last night and a Uniden 8080S is about to be installed in the 'card holder' space. Dual Batteries, 2 inch lift and some drawers are next, with a Simpson Crossing planned for July 2017

Due to roadworks, the car didn't even get to the driveway still clean, so no photos yet.
2016 Crystal Pearl Auto VX 2.8, TJM Bar, Safari Snorkel, Cooper AT/3, OME 50mm lift, Dual batts

                              • Hi,
My name is Mark and I do not own a 4WD as yet.
Currently looking to buy a 2.8 gxl auto if we can negotiate a good price for our Tarago and then start seeing Australia with the family.
Any issues to date with the 2.8 before I go ahead.
Want a long-term (10 year plus) reliable vehicle.
Can anyone recommend a reason to choose the everest over the prado, have already discounted the the fortuna as too cramped for a family of 6.
                                Cheers
