  • Hello from Spain,

After nearly a couple of years lurking and learning I thought it was time to say hello to everybody down under.
My name is Javier, I live in Madrid, and I am the proud owner of a 2003 Prado 120. The specs here are a bit different. Mine is the KDJ120 VX auto 3.0 diesel 163hp with no rear air suspension. It has 95.000km on the clock and in 12 years it has given me nothing but joy and happiness.

Well, the children are growing up and I have more time for myself. So I thought I would make it off road worthy and enjoy it with my mates. The build up is still VERY BASIC but it will hopefully start looking like a proper 4x4 very soon. For that I might need your expert advice...
    Here it is:

    General Grabber AT 265/65 R17
    3mm aluminium Hoffman spacers
    8mm aluminium skid/bash plate
    4x 10,000lb rated recovery point
    NTDD power chip. Now 196hp
    Rhino Rack bars
    TTI881 cb radio
Front suspension spacer lift. Now front 770mm and rear 780mm
    2x fire extinguishers
    Viair 400p
    TREDs 1100
    2x spare tires
    Hand made awning
    Tinted windows
    Trasharoo bag
    Jerry cans and water can
    Kinetic ropes an shackels
    Diff breathers
    ...
    ...

Earlier this year I took a trip to Morocco and needless to say I can not wait to go back. I realized that I need a snorkel and a new suspension. So I got a Safari snorkel and I am getting a complete OME 2" suspension very soon. Not quite sure wich one. Will ask you very soon

Well, that's enough from me. Just new at this but if I can help with anything else I will be only too happy to do so.
I have had the pleasure to visit Australia many times, Perth, Brisbane, Sidney and I love it.

    Cheers,

    Javier

              • Hi all,

Ben here from Sunshine Coast QLD.

Picked up my stock standard 120 series GXL last week. Nice clean car. Pretty basic at the moment. Poor thing's been restricted to a life of trips to the grocery store from the looks of it. Time to liberate it! Should be a weapon by the time I'm done with it!

                Model: 2007 120 GXL V6 Petrol
                5 speed auto
                Colour: Dark Grey
                Accessories: Absolutely nothing...yet!
                First purchase was a set of BFG KO2 A/T's yesterday. 265/70 R17's.
Phillips Xtreme Vision Plus 130 halogens going in tonight.
Booked in for ARB deluxe bar and rear air locker in two weeks, all ordered but they had to ship the bar up from Melbourne.
From there hoping to get EFS 40mm lift kit (100kg) in the next few weeks.

That'll get things started. After that I'll be chipping away at my wish list:
                - Alloy Trade Rack
                - Korr LED bar
                - ARB underbody guards
                - side rock sliders
                - Runva winch for the bar
                - Awning
                - Cargo barrier

Had the prado a week now and love it! Been waiting a long time to get a 120. First true 4wd I've had for a few years and can't wait to get back off road!
Looking forward to getting the family over to Fraser and Moreton!

Big thanks to those running the forum, seems like a great community!

                Cheers,

                - Ben

                  • Hi Guys,

Nathan here from the NSW Riverina.

                    Model: 2004 120 VX Diesel
                    Colour: Gold
Accessories: NIL - Toyota Alloy Bullbar, Toyota Roof racks
Wishlist: Lift, UHF, Winch, A/T tyres, Bar work (front, side and rear) GPS and update the head deck.

She is pretty much standard and picked her up interstate. Transferring was a bit of a nightmare but I thought I got a good deal so still think it was worth it. I have since learnt all about seat belts and extractors as I had to clean the middle ones up to get the blue slip passed. I am a total noob when it comes to cars so pulling away interior panels and all was very exciting and also nerve wracking. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can from this forum and taking on as many upgrades as I can myself.

With a brand new Pioneer Camper Trailer on the way in December we have a big trip to Perth and back planned for January. Will get some basic safety gear and communication upgrades done before getting into the suspension, lift and bar work.

We have a 7 month old daughter and figured the best upbringing any Australian kid can get is that of as much outdoors and Australian exploration as possible.

The wife and I have travelled the world so now we are excited to travel the our very own Australian Backyard.

Looking forward to what our 4x4 and this forum brings!
Cass (No I am not a chick)

                    Total noob 4WD'r!
2004 120 Prado VX, Diesel - Sovreign Bar, Roof Racks (Standard as they come.... For now!!)

                      • Introduction

                        Hi everybody,

I am Blaino and I am from Logan.

                        Model: VZJ95R VX Grande
                        Year: 1997
                        Colour: White
Accessories: X-Rox front bar, HID spotties, LED Spotties, Rock sliders, Custom rear tube bar, LED rear spotties, Reverse camera, front and rear 12,000 pound winches, (yes I said front and rear) 2 inch suspension lift, 2 inch body lift, graphite painted patrol 16" alloys with 285/75/16 Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ, Rebuilt gearbox with Nomad extreme valve body and torque converter lockup (plus reworked clutch packs and shortened/hardened pistons), front and rear lockers(rebuilt diffs), TRD supercharger (rebuilt rotors polished and rotor coated), 7th injector, map sensor, Xede computer, throttle body spacer, Denso plugs, k&n air filter, pacemaker extractors, dyno tuned, rear drawers, sass gauges, head unit with GPS, TYT UHF, Dual battery with cigarette and usb outlets, Rhino racks with basket plus a few other tid bits.

Wish list: LED light bar, snorkel (maybe) hopefully ozziexplorer or HEMA maps can be loaded into the head unit GPS, anything else would be even more greedy I think.

Unfortunately I cannot take credit for the work but I will bloody well enjoy it and add to it. I am happy to join the forum and anybody around the Logan area may see me kicking around. You won't miss me. Feel free to say g'day.

                        • Welcome Ben there is only one brand of Prado that cuts it... the mighty 120 - you have a great starting point - I did EXACTLY what you are about to 18 months ago on a 2007-120 Grande "The Pearl". Now been to the Cape and back and to the Simpson Desert via Cameron's cnr etc. and not one ounce of trouble. Important to do things properly was my motto... and it paid off in the long run!! Enjoy!! - And this is a great supportive forum as well - perhaps a few too many paranoid peeps on injectors for diesels - but that ain't you anyway!!
                          Cheers
