Just come back from Fiji and saw a few different model Toyota's over there. Heaps and heaps of toyota's and yep saw a few 120's and some 150's and heaps on 90's. The 150 was a TX which we don't have only on the old 90 diesel's. Different specs inside. Even the 120 I wasn't sure what it was spec wise. It had the D4D badge on the front guards but looked totally different inside, had the pod on the dash like the 90's with a few extra guages, bit like the surfs.
One of the prado's didnt have heating controls just cooling like the two toyota coaster buses we were in. just had face and feet for vent positions, no heater at all even the control didnt have a red strip on it just off position on the bottom left of the dial (anticlockwise) and cold to the right (clockwise) this actually turned the aircon on as well, no actual a/c button just had blue strip all the way around.
The 150 was pissing out black smoke really bad (I dont think they treat them to well) and the two buses we used both had check engine light on both D4D and they didnt really have high klms either. The 150 only had 30k on it when it was sitting there idling in the foyer area. Saw two 200 series both diesel VX and GXL badges on the back.
They have a national speed limit of 80k but not to many were sitting on it most were 100+ except out bus (roughly 15 seater as it was struggling to get to the top of some of the hills lol). Heaps of hilux's of all ages most were totally screwed even the newer D4D's. How they dont have more accidents I don't know bloody mad some of them. One prado 120 must of had every possible chrome extra they could possibly have, fuel filler caps, door edges, door handles, tail light surrounds, thing screwed into the roof, god knows what they were looked like little model airplanes lol 3 of them screwed directly into roof just in front of rear cargo door, rear spoiler bolted to the rear door half way down under the glass lol, didn't have the camera out so couldnt get a picture of it.
Most of the hilux's were the ones covered from top to bottom in mud and shit the prados were spotless all of them but only in been clean certainly not road legal, well wouldn't be here anyway.I only saw diesel in all of the prados no petrols. Only saw two servos and they don't have the price out the front so have no idea how much they were paying for fuel.
I was thinking when I saw some of them choofing smoke, bald tyres, broken rear windows, home made towbars (by the look of it) and they drove them like they stole them yet they were still cruising around and here we are doing this doing that, running certain grade oils etc and always watching guages. But the difference I suppose would be how far would they go in our outback, not far id reckon lol..............Cheers Steve
