has anyone bought 1 of those cheap king spring 2"lift kits off ebay?, like I did! Having couple issues 1 is vibration between 60-100 when underload. The other is top front control arm rubbing inside of tyre when suspension fully extended or on a hoist. I have factory allows 7/16 with 285/75/16 bfgoodrich all terrains. vibration seems to be from l/h drive shaft, have just replaced it with a recon exchange, twice cause thought was given a faulty one... so aint the shaft or cvs, all though angle is real bad. for control arm versus tyre! which is better option? change rims n offset or control arms. vehicle has been aligned and balanced twice now so vibration issue is testing paitence. what shall i check before going for diff drop?

1) install new rims with wider offset. Stock is +15, so to widen by 10mm you need +5 offset rims, or to widen by 15mm you need 0 offset rims. Be warned though, the moment you widen the offset you will increase the chance of tyre rubbing on panels (especially the front mud guard area).
2) install aftermarket UCA, eg, SPC light racing, like what I have in mine.
Regarding driving vibrations if the lift is very high and angles very bad then you're right it's probably the CV. Could you take a photo of the CV's at ride position? There is only one easy fix for this - lower the front diff a little via the 1.5" drop brackets. Otherwise, the lift is too high..Last edited by Piggy; 18-11-2014, 01:14 PM.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Can you see how lower shock bush all squashed already? The koni ones I took out were too is that normal. Oh I bought diff drop last nite on eBay but it's only a 1inch kit. Vibration seems to only becoming from l/h/f shaft and that's second recon in 6 weeks, only drive to boddington n back onc a fortnight, ain't been off-road with new suspension yet cause of vibration n wanting some sort of warranty on shaft which. I drove to the car for a week after fitting lift, then cv boot split cause they were old Toyota quoted $160 for boots on 1 shaft outer control my are had exchange recon shafts for just under. My old one didn't vibrate for the week it was in with new lift.Last edited by Colidog; 13-11-2014, 02:56 PM.

Via PM you said the new king springs are & HD but the only weight you have is an alloy bar plus rhino rack - springs are definitely too firm for your vehicle. HD is for constant weight, which is a steel bullbar + winch on the front. With an alloy bar you should definitely have soft/medium raised springs. You must change something here - either increase weight or softer springs.
It does look like it's quite high. For the front, could you measure the vertical distance between the lower edge of the rim and the plastic flare? Stock is around 730-750mm, 2" lifted is around 770-790mm. Over 800mm is too much.
The shock bushing looks bad, and for that to occur within such a short period of time is a concern. I wonder if the LCA (lower control arm) bushings are partly seized..glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Front 820 back is 810.original shaft didn't vibrate, wish I just changed the boots, only bn split for 5 days. I asked for back mine but they don't keep track of them, he told me they use aftermarket outer n recon inner. Place I used work used this drive shaft exchange business, never had drama in 25yrs. I had my finger firmly pointing at a dodgy shaft but 2 in a row? What shafts are u running? I still believe its shaft even tho was shot down wen it did it again by guy at outer control. Looking at arb steel bar n winch.

I'm running reconditioned CV's but my OME 2" medium lift has sagged down to stock levels, so the CV shafts are STRAIGHT (plus I have a diff drop). The body lift keeps the big tyres clear, lol.
Soft/medium springs are better for offroading as they flex with the terrain (both up and down). Hard springs are only good if carrying heavy load.glen_ep - engineered, 4" lift, 33" 255/85R16, lockers, 4.88 ratios www.pradopoint.com.au/showthread.php?17237 www.youtube.com/user/glenep www.fb.com/groups/ToyotaPrado90

Only other thing I can think of, and one thing to watch if doing a diff drop, is driveshaft vibration, have you have changed the angles on the yokes between the txfr case and front diff? Rangies were particularly sensitive to this and it only took a few degrees to do it. A mate had the same trouble when he changed the gearbox/txfr to 80 series LC and in the end he had to shim up the diff by mere mm's to get it right.

I'd be ripping out the stuff you bought send it back and then buy appropriate stuff. I ran Medium OME in both my 95 grande's. Never had vibration issues or scrubbing issues. As glen has said your scrubbing is due to tyres being too wide so choice there is either correct width tyre or different off set rims as Glen has mentioned. My lift was advertised as 2 inch but only come up about 37 mm on the front and 50 on the rear this was the same for both. I had steel ARB winch bar on the front duel batts etc but never had a winch. The only cv issue I had was the boot split due to age and running at standard height for so long then I lifted it which upset the angle but I had them replaced with genuine boot by my mechanic I had both done as I figured if one was screwed the other wouldn't have been far behind. Bush was done up whilst the suspension had load on it. I am getting to that point Steve.I still think my drive sshaft giving vibration. It only needed a boot same circumstances as yours, was same price exchange recon shaft as genuine boots. So wishing I just got genuine boots now, bet then wouldnt of been an issue as wasn't for first week with kit in before boot split. Drive shaft joint only replaced inner cv wen took it back I wanted complete different shaft, tried getn my one back, but no luck. Having lift kit in voids their warranty, was lucky to have cv even changed out. I mite buy completely new genuine shaft first.
