  • Timing Belt Indicator Light - how to reset?

    Hi,

I have just replaced my timing belt, but now not sure how to reset the T-Belt indicator light on the dash... (it's a 150 series keyless start)

Anyone have any info on this one? I tried the 120 series procedure, but that must be different, coz it didn't work at all.

hoping I won't have to take it into the dealer for this...

    UPDATE:

I just went to the dealer yesterday. Had 4 different people there have a crack at trying to turn the light off and none of them could work it out... end result is they want me to book it in @ $155p/h so they can hook it up to the computer and get it sorted...

This seems very overly complicated to turn off a timing belt light >
Still not sure what I will do...

Restting T-belt light with push button ignition - 150 Series

Just reset T-belt light on my TOYOTA Prado GXL D4D 150 series with push button ignition (non OPTITRON display). Here's how I did it....

      1. With foot OFF brake pedal for all steps - this is critical
      2. Ignition ON (two ignition button pushes) and then set trip meter to trip B
      3. Turn ignition OFF (One push of ignition button)
      4. Hold in ODO/TRIP button while pushing ignition button twice (ignition back on) and then hold ODO/TRIP button for at least 5 seconds. T-Belt light flashes
      5. Turn ODO/TRIP button OFF then back on again all within 5 seconds
      6. Trip B then displays the increment in km to next change of Timing Belt
      7. Pressing the ODO/TRIP button repeatedly increments from the 150,000km preset through increments of 10,000km from 10,000 up. You can preset the T-Belt light to come on at an increment of your choosing from 10,000 to 200,000km. I preset mine to come in in another 100,000km.
      8. You must complete step 7 within 30 seconds otherwise you have to start again
      9. When finished with step 7, just press and hold the ODO/TRIP button for at least 5 seconds and the warning light will go OFF and the TRIP B display will return
      10. Turn OFF the ignition by pressing the ignition switch once.

Hopefully, when you next get around to needing to change the timing belt you'll once again get a reminder with the warning light coming on.
